growing up when there was no cable, no internet, no cell phones, no call waiting. It was innocent fun back then and life seemed less complicated.

One of my best childhood memories involves ice cream too!
I was about 4 or 5, and I was sitting on my dad's lap. It was a summer night and we were seated by a window with all the sounds of the city outside. I had a flying saucer sandwich and I remember realizing that the icecream was chocolate when I really wanted vanilla. I was upset (I was a bit of a princess LOL) and then Daddy "saved" the day by volunteering to eat the chocolate and giving me the cookies, which were the best parts anyway. I remember thinking Daddy was my hero. He died before I turned six.

my grandparents raised me my sister and three brothers. my grandmother was a stay at home mom for us. My pop worked at the steel mill and was on swing shift. the weeks that he was on day work he would take one night after dinner that week and call each of us in to the kitchen one by one and sit on his lap. he would say how much do you love me and i would stretch my arms out real far and he would say that is it and I would try so hard to stretch them out farther for him . then he would just give us alone time to talk about what ever we wanted with him. He got me when I was ten months old and he died when I was eleven of cancer but I have the best memories in the world of him.

Riding in my Parents' RV on vacations all over this U.S. and Mexico, I just used to sit back and relax and enjoy the ride, we would stop all over and see and do different things. My siblings and I always looked forward to the end of school--because we knew we would be leaving on an RV trip. Those were priceless memories.

At about the age of 8, a friend and I decided to "run away." We packed our small backpacks with Fruit Roll-ups and stuffed animals (only the essentials, of course) and made it to the end of the street before my friend's older brother came barrelling after us on his bike. "Mom's pretty mad. You guys better come home." So, that's as far as we got. So much for our adventure.
