Which point of labour gives the baby its actual time of birth? Is it when the baby is physically out or when the baby takes its first breath?

I know there are some that will say i should be spending every minute of every day entertaining him but i just can't do that as i have to do housework and cooking for my husband as well as being a mum.

How long do you think is the right amount of time to be playing with him. I think i spend enough time with him, he is contented and happy, but i feel bad even if i have to nip to the toilet because he cries when i leave the room. Does anyone else feel like this or do you let your babies have time on their own?

My daughter is 3 months old. Since about 8 weeks she has gone to sleep @ night VERY well, does not fight it or anything. She only gets upset if I try to keep her up later because she is ready to go to sleep at 8-9 pm. She will then generally sleep till about 2:30 am when she wakes and drinks about 6 ounces. We burp, and she falls back to sleep in about 10 minutes (sometimes quicker) THE PROBLEM IS, like clockwork she wakes anywhere from 4-5am and wants to get up. If I don't get her up within 5 minutes she cries. I have tried changing her, feeding her, etc., but she just want to be up and play. I have caved and let her in our bed till I get up for work @ 6 and she will snooze there, but I don't want to get her in that habit. This is an everynight thing. I am tired of starting our day at 4, and she crashes by 9am. Anyone have a similiar situation? What did you do?

My period is 16 days late. I went off the patch in mid october. Always had a normal, on time period. I took a HPT test on Sunday but it came out negative. I have the pregnancy symptoms but now they also could be period symptoms. If I dont get it by the end of the week I would like to go to the doc to get test. Do you think that is to soon? SHould I wait to see if I miss a 2nd period. Can I have a false negaitve? Can it be to early to tell? I heard the dr takes blood to see, does it take long for the results?

IF A CHILD IS 6 YEARS OLD, HAS BEEN WITH GRANDMOTHER SINCE BIRTH, THERE IS REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THE FATHER OF SAID CHILD WAS 13 AT TIME OF CONCEPTION. THE MOTHER WAS 18 (DAUGHTER OF SAID GRANDMOTHER). FATHER IS WILLING TO COME FORWARD IF NEEDED. WOULD WE BE ABLE TO USE THIS TO BATTLE FOR ADOPTION SO THE GRANDMOTHER CAN KEEP THE CHILD. THE MOTHER HAS NEVER PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, OR FINANICALLY BEEN THERE FOR SAID CHILD.

alright so i am 15, and have been going out with my boyfriend for about eight months. we got along really well, but i was at a dance and we had a odd conversation. so we were talking i don't even remember about what and he just said that he has told people that he has had sex. now i know he hasn't, but this was kind of shocking. apparently he even told his mom... he said it made him sound cooler. i have never had sex, and as i said i know he hasn't. so does this mean anything? or should i not worry?

my husband (their daddy) says she is just a perfect angel, with a capital "A", no less, but when I am around she immediately starts whining, wants to be held non-stop, etc. She's grabbing at my legs right now whining to be held. I don't pick her up in order to not 'teach' her that whining gets her what she wants. It doesn't seem to help. I give her TONS of affection so it's not a lack of 'mommy love' that is causing it. What can I do? She really tests me!!!

I'm just wondering if it would be best for us to foster children in our home first? I also want to know if fostering can help us adopt quickly? Any suggestions would be great! We are not looking for a baby (although it would be nice), I would simply like to have a child that is less than four years old. I figure, if I'm going to take a year off for maternity leave, I would like to do it while that child is not in school. Otherwise, I might as well work. Also, we are not opposed to taking siblings.

Keep in mind that I am referring to everyday meals, snacks, etc that one should never skip, in order to ensure a smooth pregnancy and also most beneficial for your child to be. Someone said that you can find these pills from the market which have been extracted from vegetables/fruits etc, and they fulfill ones complete daily needs...? Also, someone recommended fish oil capsules for omega 3 benefits for the child and mother during pregnancy and post as well. Can someone provide a checklist so that I can just follow that, or recommend a website where I may be able to find the best possible nutrition for my wife and child? Tks.

I have had many good answers so far to the original question but it leads to another one. Having young children in school, I decided to become a sub to be able to be there for my kids. My issue is how many teachers/para/cafe workers I saw screaming at the kids. Even the pre k para would yell at them in a manner that if it were my child, there would be a problem. I have seen several cafe workers scream directly in the ears of some children and others workers not say a thing. This was a daily problem. Should I report these people? It seems that every time that I try to bring to attention these things, it is turned around and I'm the weird outsider. Or I am making a big deal out of something. I tried to use a different behavior and approach and the workers saw that my way was working and they seemed to stop yelling, but I'm gone now and their behavior is probably back to before. Also, every school I worked at had at least 1 screamer. Every parent: have lunch w/kids.

my 3 year old little girl became a devil child. About a year ago I stopped working to be at home with her and in aug I went back to work. She has been staying with my sister in law while I work. Lately she has been trying to hit me spit at me and she yells at me. She won't listen at all. I don't want to keep yelling at her and punishing her but I don't know what else to do to get her to be my little girl again. She use to be so polite and fun now she is a terror so is this just how a 3 year old acts or do I need to find a toddler boot camp? Please help me on what to do with her

I read a question on this and some people were saying not to use wipes if they're just wet, but that's gross! That leaves the urine sticking to their skin, what do you think?

I am 12 days past ovulation..my period is due tomorrow and I usually do not start spotting until the morning of and then it comes full force around lunch time. I started spotting and cramping last night. All preggo tests have been negative. Have any of you ladies ever spotted and cramped before your period was supposed to come and thought you were going to start and still been pregnant? This is the 3rd month that my hubby and I have been trying and I know it hasn't been that long but it is starting to get depressing. I know that spotting and cramping can happen in early pregnancy but I have a feeling that the inevitable will probably still happen tomorrow but I'm hoping some of you might give me a last glimmer of hope! Thanks!!

How long after you start getting Braxton Hicks do they turn into real contractions?
Im 35 weeks and have been having them every evening now for the last two weeks. They are not very painful, just feel like period aches/cramps. I am also getting slight pains in my pelvis, like groin strain.
Is it possible to tell how far away labour is??

I'm 19 and my girlfriend is 16. She missed her period last month and after taking a pregnancy test we found out she def. was pregnant. We are still debating whether to get an abortion or to keep it. The father is an alcoholic and cheats on her mother. He's rarely around during the day and just comes home to sleep after getting back from the bar late at night. He also has no idea that im dating his daughter and that she is pregnant. The Mother is aware that she is and knows me very well. However, shes Bi-polar and goes on crazy rages and beats on her kids. She already saids shes gonna kill the baby if we dont get an abortion. I'm very worried for my girlfriends sake cause the living conditions are worse then ever. I'm afraid her mother will end up seriously hurting her and kill the baby. I want to get an apartment and just have her live with me for the last 2 years of highschool. Can she live with me legally? And if not what could I possibly do to help. Please help.
