My fiancé and I want to name our first children after family members, as a way of honoring our grandparents and great-grandparents. We're hoping to have a son the first time around and are thinking of using our grandfathers' names. However, the name would be Otis Glenn. Otis for his grandfather and Glenn for mine.

Truthfully, I don't mind Otis, and we could call him Glenn if we wanted to and Otis could just be something for his birth certificate and formalities and so on. But a lot of people are reacting badly to the name. It's an older name, but I don't think it's so awful. So I'm wondering what you think about the name Otis?

I hate to admit, I hate high school...... its very hard, esp at my school with all the little cliques, drugs, parties, sex, etc.
im 15 and im proud of myself for not being involved with this stuff but i find myself longing for highschool to be over...
i feel like i don't fit in b/c i don't do those bad things i listed above. my old friend from freshman year smokes cigarettes now and she was having sex at this guy at my school's house with him and like 10 guys banged on the door while they were doing it and then they eventually got in and saw them having sex so she transferred schools..i can name 2 people who have gotten pregnant in my grade at my school. woops i am going off topic but anyways how was your teen years? highschool sucks right now is college any better? i only have 1 close friend in high schoool it sucks.

Our oldest daughter is 12, going to be 13 next May. I am her stepmother and very proud of her so far. Sort of to get ahead of the game. My husband and I both know it is coming to a point where boys will no longer be the carriers of cooties. Being from the city I of course had more opportunities for finding out about such things and he being from the country and less opportunity for much other than work and school.

What of our lives and struggles should we share or not share?

How to get started?

How to not scare her?

It's sad, but we are finding it difficult to remember even having these discussions with our parents 20 years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The March of Dimes recommends that all pregnant women follow these five key steps:

1. Get early & regular pre-natal care. It reduces your risk of having a low birthweight baby.

2. Eat nutritious foods. Make sure that you & your baby get all the protein & nutrients you need through a varied diet.

3. Don't Smoke! Women who smoke increase their chances of having a miscarriage or a low birthweight baby.

4. Don't Take Drugs! Taking drugs, except those approved by a doctor who knows you're pregnant, can cause severe disabilities---or even result in the death of your baby.

5. Don't Drink. Hard liquor, wine or beer can all cause birth defects.

I just thought this was something that you needed to know.

One of my children died because I drank a little wine during my pregnancy, he had a birth defect with his heart.
And I didn't see a doctor until I was 5 months along.

I didn't want this to happen to anyone else.

I'm the only girl in my physical education/health class. There are about 15 boys. I'm 17 and in my last year of high school.

My teacher is really nice, he favours me a lot because I'm the only girl and I try my hardest and get all my work complete.

These boys muck around and are rude to the teacher, but what annoys me the most is how they speak about woman.

These are 17 year old boys talking about which sex position feels the best and which girl is easy (some of these girls are my friends). One boys comment today was 'pu*ssy is pu*ssy'.

I just ignore them, because I know that they're immature and rude but today I just wanted to turn around and punch them in the face (I'm not usually a violent person).

My teacher often has to leave the class to go and get extra work and he misses these conversations.

Do you think I should talk to the Dean? or the Principal?

I'm sick of their rudeness.

I'm looking for something that won't humiliate a child once she gets older. Also something that is just... pretty.

Boy name suggestions would be appreciated also. Something a little different, but not so out there that I'd be looked at as a freak for naming my child.

It doesn't bother him but it makes me feel terrible!!! Our house is less than 2 years old and I spray outside the house. I found a mosquito on the ceiling tonight, which I killed. Are mosquitos coming through the vent in the ceiling? Our pediatrician recommended a bug strip rather than spraying inside his room. Please help!!!! Thank you.

okay heres the deal monday i had my membranes stripped, i bled and had cramping until this morning and now it just went away. my doctor said it would be normal to bleed and cramp and it should speed up the process. Im due sunday. This just irritates me a little bit, it felt like i was making some progression now all my labor symptoms just disappeared. How long did it take anyone else to go into labor after having your membranes swept/stripped?

I am a teen looking for someone other than my parents to talk to. here is the problem. I am 17 and I was homeschooled aka unschooled for most of my life. last year for 11th grade my parents let me go to the community college for a dual enrollment program. this was great in many ways because my classes were free, and all I had to do was pay for books. I was able to take some very useful and fun classes, but there was a catch. my dad is a teacher at the community college. a math teacher. I hate math with a holy passion, and my dad knows it. he will only let me continue going to the college if I spend one hour a day sitting in one of his math classes. I feel like I am locked in a cage for that hour. every one on the class thinks that I should know all the answers because my dad is the teacher. my dad thinks that I should know all the answers simply because he is a college math teacher, like I should have gotten it through genetics or something.

(there is more)
