I'm the only girl in my physical education/health class. There are about 15 boys. I'm 17 and in my last year of high school.
My teacher is really nice, he favours me a lot because I'm the only girl and I try my hardest and get all my work complete.
These boys muck around and are rude to the teacher, but what annoys me the most is how they speak about woman.
These are 17 year old boys talking about which sex position feels the best and which girl is easy (some of these girls are my friends). One boys comment today was 'pu*ssy is pu*ssy'.
I just ignore them, because I know that they're immature and rude but today I just wanted to turn around and punch them in the face (I'm not usually a violent person).
My teacher often has to leave the class to go and get extra work and he misses these conversations.
Do you think I should talk to the Dean? or the Principal?
I'm sick of their rudeness.

No. They're all NZ European. There is one Maori in my class and I'd say he has the most respect for woman out of all of them.

I don't think it's directed at me. They talk about my friends in a sexual way. They talk about this stuff all the time, but I'm just sick hearing it.
My friends and I don't talk about which boy we'd to do anything sexual with because these boys have the maturity of a 13 year old!

This is not boys being boys it's boys being pigs. You shouldn't stand for it. Bring a tape recorder, get some evidence and go to the teacher or the principal.
Some boys will be as crude and disrespectful as people let them and will think nothing of it. Not all boys are like that. Probably many of the other boys are uncomfortable with it, but like you lack the courage to do anything about it.

From the time human race evolved, a few million years ago, males have been hunters, which required aggressiveness. When human race became civilised, just about 10000 years ago, a minuscule of the time it remained wild and aggressive, it brought some discipline but still has to go a long time.
Till then the 'boys will be boys' as it is said everywhere. This behaviour of boys is not unique to NZ or Australia but is prevalent all over the world. My own country, India, is not untouched too.
Such utterances are nothing but the effort to show their macho-ism to other boys which again is the part of basic instinct to show superiority over others.
You are the only girl in the class, so it is obvious that you think that their talks are directed towards you, which probably is true to some extent, but believe me they talk like this among themselves too may be even more crudely. Your presence may have rather toned-down their crudeness.
I suggest you do nothing, just ignore, 'cause nothing really can be done. It may become even worse if you react. If you report the matter to higher ups, they would only sympathise with you to soothe your feelings but in reality they are hapless.
'I am sure they would grow out of this 'High Testosterone Syndrome, once they grow up.

You should probably talk to your teacher or your principal to help enforce stricter rules against inappropriate talk. Some people would say boys will be boys and I agree, but sometimes they get way out of line. They should learn to respect the fact that there is a girl there and that they should keep those thoughts to themselves. Tell them that you don't like the way they talk about girls like that seeing as you are one yourself. One day, all the girls will turn against them because they're acting so perverted and rude. Maybe then they'll learn, but hopefully they'll learn before that.

It's not unusual at all. I'm 17 as well, and half of the boys conversations about things like that are very similar.
But in saying that, most of us girls talk like that as well. One day they'll all grow up and realise that if they ever want to get any "p*ssy" ever again they're going to have to start treating us women with a bit of respect and keep conversations like that away from public, if they're still ruse enough to have them at all.
With tv shows as they are, and movies like American Pie etc. it's no wonder they're saying things like that..

Hi Wabby, I agree with you have a talk with the Principal. Most boys who make nasty comments are usually the ones who don't even get a kiss from a girl. This kind of behavior is uncalled for anywhere. Stand your grounds Wabby you are in the right on this one.

i know a guy like that he thought he could talk to me any way he wanted because he was on the football team and he is a male. i showed my inner bitoch and i don't regret it because i never did anything to him for him to disrepect me infront of the whole class. lets just say that the teachers lessons plans were disrupted for ten mintues . he is the one boy that i would be glade to jump and i am a nice person. Guys are nice but some of them can be mean just like some girls. in my opinion the means ones are the jocks/pretty boys cuz they think they can have any girl they want

Wabby, these rude little boys only wish they had as much action as they boast about. You cannot stop these little boys from amusing themselves in this manner. They have to get rid of that testosterone somehow.Do not dignify their comments by wasting time and energy on a response, they don't want to impress you ,they want to impress their male friends.Hopefully they will never hear someone talk about their sister's in that manner.Given time, these little boys will hopefully mature into men.

I blame the woman's lib movement.
That was what triggered the equal rights etc and lessened the respect by men to women.
Now it has gone completely crazy and the youth of today have no concept of respect.
I also agree with Dune, so Wabby see what the rest of the world thinks.

Dear Sarah,
These boys are engaged in a form of sexual harassment, i.e., they are creating a hostile environment. In the U.S., there would be grounds for a civil action against the boys and the school. In most states in the U.S., their action would also be criminal, if their intent was to inflict emotional distress.
Please, discuss it with your teacher. Tell him how it makes you feel. If you don't get immediate results, or he dismisses you; take it to the next level.

it would probably help to talk to the principle about this, but you seem pretty smart, i think it would be sort cool if one day you just turned around and put in your two cents and see what they have to say about that, unless of course these boys are dangerous and which case just keep your mouth shut
