My sister is having a baby, and I'm trying to come up with a name for the baby to call me. All the other Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents have really cute names, and I can't think of anything. My name is Whitney, and 'Aunt Whit' is just so bland. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I am a stay at home mother of a 5 month old. i decided to stay at home and raise my kids instead of putting them off on a babysitter, and i have read about attachment parenting, and applied some of it to my daily life with her. she is very well behaved and rarely cries, but i have so many friends that have jobs outside the house, they complain how hard it is to have children. oh my children behave so badly and oh my children are so jealous of eachother they fight when i am home. now i do not find being a parent difficult at all, i have noticed the parents that work outside the home tend to have misbehaving kids, and they are the parents that complain about parenting being so hard. they are never with their kids so how is it so hard for them? and maybe if they didnt work all the time to get away from them they wouldnt act out to get the attention of the parent. i understand single parents with no choice but to work. but ones who have the choice, has anyone noticed the difference in kids

I love sending out Evites early but wonder if next week is too early for an Evite for a party for October 13th (toddler Halloween party). I wrote "Mark your calendars" on the evite b/c I know everyone is always so busy and have busy schedules. Is it too early to send them out next week? It would be 6 weeks in advance...

Ok, this is strange. The last few weeks my baby has been always fussy....colic stage...so I have been in the habit of taking her temp alot just incase she is fussing for something else. Always its in the normal range 36.4 to -38 degrees celius or 97.5 to 100.4 degrees fahrenheit for a baby 0-2 months. (she is just over two months but the next bracket in my booklet for temps says 3-10 months and because she is not yet 3months I'm still looking at the first bracket.
She has always been in the normal range but today... she was below...not by much. I have a laser digital thermometer that you take in the ear and today I tool it 3 times, and it was 35.6, 35.7, 35.8 ok, its a fraction below normal but here is the thing. Why below? I am living in the middle of a heat wave here in Greece! And also her normal temp history is a degree above those readings.
Ok, new mum here, we're always paranoid... tell me this is ok?

Ok forgot to mention that I've been nursing her with a cold..

Recently my husband and I had a long talk about spanking and agreed that we would no longer use spanking as a form of punishment for our children. We have, in the past, spanked our 3 year old and gave the in-laws(husbands parents) permission to spank him if necessary when he stayed over or they watched him for us. They themselves are adament believers in spanking. Now that we have made this decision, how do we go about telling the grandparents to no longer spank him?

I'm confused about what the "soft" part means. Can someone help me out? I'm 37 1/2 weeks and have been dilated 1cm for a week now. When I dilated to the 1cm my doctor said my cervix was "long" and today he says it's "soft"....I'm so confused to the terminology.

I am supposed to start my period today...has not come yet. I felt crampy all week and bloated. Last night I had really bad cramps that just hit suddenly and went away. I thought for sure I would have it by the time I woke up this morning. I'm not trying to get pregnant; but, if it happened I would be happy. I'm just wondering what everyone thinks. I am referring at this moment to an 8 week old, but if you have info about older fetuses, that's okay too.

I went for my ultrasound, and had consumed what I thought was caffeine free soda, but it turns out that it DID have caffeine.

The heart rate was 169...just wondering if that was a result of the caffeine that I drank about 75 minutes before the ultrasound.
