Children should grow up in terms of responsibility, like learning to cook and clean, take care of themselves, and cope with problems. They can learn these things and still be happy children - in fact they may be happier children for it.

I don't approve of things like high fashion or unhealthy body images. I don't approve of it for adults either. I have no idea who can possibly care what eyebrow-plucking shape is 'in vogue' this 'season'.

I am very aware of what is said to my child. In fact, my son had a bit of a pot belly for a little while and some of my kin were telling me he was to fat. When they did that, I would remove him from the situation. He had a growth spurt and the belly was gone. I don't want any complexes. I remember as a child my father always riding me about being fat and when I look back a my child hood pictures, I realize I wasn't. He says it was a prevent me from getting that way. I think we have to protect our children at all cost. But I also think they should be taught to take the consequences for their actions

I had no idea celebrity magazines were forcing our children to get their ears pierced. Damn US Weekly and Paris Hilton.

They only grow up too fast if we allow those influences to be stronger than our own guidance and influence on them. It's still possible to raise a decent human being, it just takes a lot more diligence than it used to.

I agree with you very much but... you know what, its society rushing our children. children today are expected to know so much more before they hit kindergardian than we did. N one wants their children to be behind. Its also not as safe for our children as it was for us. they cant play outside like we did. I remember doing things at age 5 that I would never feel safe letting my daughter do, like go to the park r the store alone. I guess the world is changing so our children have to addapt. All this being said, I think our children have to be more grown up therefore they cre more about their apperance. Children today should know their numbers, letters how to write their names. basic computer skills.

those magazines just want to be popular and take control not every one can be skinny and some people think that they are ugly and need to look like that model and when they are older may go to surgery and get very sick.on the other hand they may not think bad about themselves.

I think if you raise your children right and don't push them to grow up to fast then you shouldnt worry.

Why are you letting your kids read celebrity magazines? Why don't you set the example and raise your kids YOURSELF instead of letting magazines and slutty stars do it?

Sure there is. But it's our job as parents to guide them properly.
