Say someone already has one child. And then they get pregnant again later on down the road 1-however many years down the road, and the unborn baby's sex is opposite from the first child. Is it ok to have another baby shower or is that something that is just not done?? Wondering because a friend of mine wants to have another baby shower for the little boy she is having so she can get boy things.

what do you all think

My 5-month-old, for the past few hours, has been fussy off and on and keeps rubbing and pawing at the left side of her head, right above her eye. It's 12 midnight now and she's fussing in her bassinet and still feverishly rubbing above her eye. She often rubs her eyes when she's tired, but not like this. She doesn't have any fever and doesn't seem to be any pain (she's not clenching her fists or straightening and/or drawing up her legs), but this is causing great distress and she can't sleep. I don't see any kind of rash or wound on her forehead. Does anyone have a clue?? I am worried about her!

My nearly 3 year old daughter loves to play dress-up. Most of the time it's one of her dresses with my flip-flops. I was thinking about maybe getting her a pair for sumer. The only thing though, my husband says it's unsafe. I know I wouldn't put them on her to go to the park or anything, but what about just to wear out? If she were to wear them to walmart or something, is that dangerous? I've always worn them and never had a problem but I have no clue when it comes to my daughter.

My boyfriend smokes marijuana, but he won't admit to me that he still does (just trust me, I KNOW he is still using it regularly)... And I absolutely hate it. It is against my morals, but we have been together for a year and he only started smoking it in august.. But he HAS to stop... How can I help him when he won't even admit it? It is killing me. He is a freshman in college and his parents help him with money. He hasnt had a job in over a month and he stays up till 6 am and sleeps till 3. He actually isnt even taking classes this semester! How can i get him to get his life back on track... he says he wants to! But should I call his parents.

Some friends of ours are always comparing their children to ours.Always making underhand comments about how their children have this or that better.Always boasting. They try to come off like they are giving us advice, helping us to make sure our kids are at least almost as good as theirs. Why do they behave this way?Do they not realize they are turning people off with this behavior, that they are hurting people's feelings?

I only use cloth diapers with both of my previous children, but have never tried to use cloth in the first few days after birth, while still in the hospital. Will the hospital have a problem with using cloth?

Please, only respond if you actually know the answer to this!

Thanks.

I'm getting to the age where my gynocologist tells me that if I want to have a baby I have to have one NOW. I'm single and not in a serious relationship. It's a bit scary thinking of having a baby on my own, but I don't want to miss that amazing experience. I know I am opening myself up for possible ridicule and denouncement, but how do you know if having a baby on your own is the right thing for yourself?

I personally used disposables with my first until he was 2 1/2, then switched to cloth. My second child was about 6 months at the time. Now I'm pregnant with my third and I am extatic to use cloth on the new baby! Do people not know that cloth diapers are not like the ones your grandma used to use? Do people even care that it's cheaper to use cloth and better for our environment? I don't understand why somebody wouldn't use cloth. Why wouldn't a parent want to use cloth?

We have a nine year old daughter that is severely ADHD. She is on two kinds of medicine- morning and evening. She started her meds a few weeks ago. What are some of the ways you deal with the problems that happen with an ADHD child? Temper tamtrums, not listening, just plain moody sometimes. Since she started taking her medicine, she really has gotten better. We still have our problems though. She goes back in a few weeks for reevaluation. My husband and I are looking for a few tips to make things a little easier. We have two other children in the house as well-3 years and 10 months. Thanks for your answers.

My son has been drooling quite a bit lately....has been for the past week or so. I know teeth don't come in for months after the drooling begins, but it still seems quite early. Do babies sometimes drool for no reason at all?

How long after labor do you have to wait before you can resume doing sit ups and other exercises to get back in shape? Especially sit-ups. I heard that there are instances when the abdominal muscles separate during pregnancy and you have to wait a specified amount of time before attempting to do sit-ups again.

For the past three months he has not slept through the night. At random hours he comes into my bed to sleep with me. The first week he had the accident I let him sleep with me so he would be secure and I assumed he kept coming back because we established a pattern. But my mother informed me recently he has been having nightmares.

The accident occured as a result of a Little Tikes toy dislodging and falling onto him propelling him onto the cement area of the playground. He scraped his head and it looked so awful I had to hold back from crying. I took him to the emergency room and he had an MRI. There was no damage on the x-ray and with using aloe vera and cocoa butter the scar is pretty much clear now. But my mother said in his nightmares he's grabing his head and and yelling out "no, no, no". What should I do to help him?

Before knowing he was having nightmares I was actually scolding him for waking in the middle of the night to sleep in my bed and now I feel so guilty.

The reason I ask is because sometimes my daughter doesn't always finish her bedtime bottle. I don't want to go in there to take the bottle because it always wakes her up. (As far as leaving her with the bottle, I went about 9 months feeding her myself then putting her to bed and she just wouldn't go to sleep, so I do what works.) The other night though, I caught her sucking on the same bottle at 5am (her bedtime is around 10:30-11:00pm and before you start harping on me about her bedtime, keep in mind that some people have jobs on the second and third shift and I would go insane from sleep deprivation if I didn't have her go to bed so late because I just can't function at 7am). What are the health risks? I have heard that with regular formula, it can only sit for about 2 hours before it is no good.

I took my 6 month old daughter to the doctor on monday because she was coughing real bad and kept grabbing at her ears. They said she has an ear infection and wheezing. They gave her Amoxicillian and Albuterol. How long does Albuterol usually take to work? Today her cough sounds a lot worse and she sounds even more wheezy. She also has a green snotty nose. Should I call the DR again or give the meds a little more time to work?
