Pregnancy & Parenting - 23 December 2006

I need any suggestions for this problem. My son is 4 and is autistic. He gets terrible tantrums where he throws himself onto the floor and screams for sometimes as long as 45 mins solid. He will not listen and gets out of control. This happens when you tell him it is nap time or take a toy away from him etc...His dr really has no ideas for me are there any parents with tried and true things they do for this? Thanks so much for ANY ideas!

I am almost 9 weeks into my pregnancy. My boyfriend is in the military and we talked about what we were going to do with the baby. My husband is traveling with our son by himself and we are looking for a sturdy yet lightweight "stroller" for them to use. Our son is 5 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. They will be traveling overnight and I know that our son will be cranky and I don't want my husband to have to carry him all over the airport. Does anyone know where to find a good, reasonably priced older child stroller? Thanks much!

Me and my husband are considering having a child. I really want my own child so I can say he/she is my own and he/she can have genes of mine and my husbands but my heart tells me to use the adoption method. Something I knew I'd like to do as a child. Any ideas on what to do??

13? is that normal? i mean im always getting blamed for everything at home and school, im not that smart(i have a 73 average), i only really have 2 friends and only 1 is in my grade and none of them are popular(me neither), i get yelled at at home and slapped, im like 20 pounds overweight, i suck at gym(im not athletic), i can hear peoplae always whispering about my friends and i guess me to, im really quite, im trying to find out who i am to and what i want from life, and im having the normal teenage feelings. what should i do? i dont really think that i deserve any of this, i never ask for anything that i know that i won't get, im trustworthy, respectful, nice, caring, honest. i cant see a counsellor because my parents are afraid of somebody they know seeing them or me there. and im a girl

So I was watching a show on Giving Birth.. and I must admit, pushing a baby does NOT look hard at all. Maybe the fact that it's women doing the pushing, and men are naturally stronger and could do it quicker?

I'm 9 weeks pregnant, and as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I cut out caffeine completely. I've seen questions here regarding people drinking coffee while pregnant. Is that okay to do? Had two lab urine tests now, and both were negative (Tues and fri), though I had a positive hpt on thursday pm. My mom says that when she was pregnant w/ my sister she was negative for 2 months. My HMO (Kaiser Permanente) won't do a blood test w/o a dr order, but I can't get an appt until almost February. I'm over a week late, my breasts feel like they've been punched by Mike Tyson, and I'm queasy when my stomach is half empty. I'm an absolute beeyatch from hormones, and I know what pregnancy feels like cuz this is my second and it's a cookie-cutter of my first one so far. I'm so frustrated!

now 2 weeks later i woke up today and i felt all sick and gross
but i havent eaten that much in a few days so idk maybe thats why
and planb like would stop anything from happening...
wich is why i took it a while ago...
but idk now im feeling weird...
and i havnt had sex since that one time...
but then today i got my period or something idk its like weird...
and i already had it like 2 or 3 weeks ago too. it seems weird to get it this soon to me..
so i dont know whats going on.. if im preg.. or if its just my body be weird and stressed or what...
please help me...what do u think is going on? i like need opinions and things.

OK, my relative did some Meth once upon a time, but she has left that behind, (and I am so proud of her!).
Her poor teeth are awful, and they can easily chip. She saw a dentist once, but she now has no insurance. At the time, the dentist could not understand how she could function without pain meds. She told him next to the withdrawal pains, it was easy. One tooth has broken off above the gum, but the roots is still in the gum. She cannot get it to stop a slow bleed. She said she needs to spit every 5-15 minutes. She has tried cotton gauge press, but it did not work. Don't say dentist, because there is no money for one. Does anyone have a suggestion???

One last fact, she is in her last trimester of a pregnancy.

an ultrasound without seeing a prenatal Doctor?
I would guess I am around 8 weeks by my LMP, but you never know....
My insurance wont kick in for another month and NO doctor will see me without insurance, Not even the local women's clinic or the health department.Where I live there is no planned parenthood or anything.Can I go to the ER or something? What would be a good explanation to get me an ultrasound?
I really want the dating to be accurate and if I wait im afraid it might not be accurate.Plus I would really like to know if the baby is actually a viable pregnancy or not before I get too attached.

I do not want an amniocentesis; the Dr's tried to give me one today. I do not want to cause my baby any more problems. Instead I had AFP blood work done, results don't come back for another 2weeks so they booked me an Amnio appointment for next week (I am only going to get another ultrasound and then I am going to decline the Amnio) I want to see if the bowel obstruction clears up on its own. And then a follow up appointment in two weeks when my blood work comes back. They are saying that the cpc or brain cyst could be a genetic abnormality like down syndrome or it could be nothing and then the bowel obstruction could be the swallowing of some blood from the amniotic sac or it could be yet another genetic abnormality like downs or cystic fibrosis. One or the other might be nothing but two is cause for concern and I am scared. I have just cancelled my flight home for Christmas as I cant face my in laws, instead I will stay here do research, any Dr's or mothers out there please advise me

what the deal is with people wanting to give their children extremely unusual names (like Rylic or Jazzlyn. I once taught a class in which I had a Jarobin, Kolynta, Kizzie, and Cladeeca), or take normal names and change the spelling (like Aimie or Schad or Ahnghye-that's "Angie")? Or celebrities who name their children things like "Moxie Crimefighter" or "Kal-el." When I worked in the layaway department of a retail store, I once had a customer with a SILENT Q in the middle of her name. Is it from some misguided sense of wanting their child to be different? Do they not realize these poor kids will be spending the rest of their lives spelling and/or pronouncing their names for people? Why inflict that on someone?? I just absolutely do NOT get it.

my eggs keep rupturing inside of me during ovulation so I am unable to get pregnant again. The dr sugested a drug called clomid. Do you know of any over the counter or herbal solutions I could try? I really don't want to take clomid. I have a normal 28 day cycle now, but my eggs keep bursting around the 14 day mark, so I can't get them fertilized. help plz. thx

I'm currently 7 months pregnant and am trying to eat as healthy as possible. I'm starting to get really bored w/ having my regular breakfast which consists of whole grain cereal w/ strawberries or banana slices and juice or occassionally a cup of coffee. What would be some other healthy breakfast choices besides what I regularly have? Also, I'd prefer the choices be things that help w/ a very sluggish digestive system o and no prune juice, that stuff gets me going but makes me wanna puke, esp. in the early mornings. Thanks.
