My daughter spoke fluently at the age of 9 months....she was is so smart!!! However my nephew is 2 and a half and he only says water, mami, and papi. That reminded me that boys are often slower than girls!!! ;-)

My twins did a lot of "baby talk" starting at around 2.5 months. They did the goo goo gaa gaa type stuff, but at around 4 months they said "mama" although i dont think they intended to or were calling for me! haha but thats the first actual "word" they said.

All of my children said their first words around 10 to 11 months.
Oldest, a girl: "dada" and "cookie"
Middle, a boy: "mama"
Youngest, a girl: "Oh in it" (Open it!)
