I'm not talking about you personally. I'm talking about parents in general as a whole. Do you think parents (even when their children are at a young age) practice foresight? Do you think parents really take that responsibility to heart--almost like a job--and do their best?

Now, I’m talking about you. How do you feel about parenting books in general? What is your main concern as a parent? Do you think the parents who do not take parenting seriously will some day have an effect on your own children?

I’m just curious. I’ve been noticing more and more my own awareness of parenting. I’ve been really nervous (as I’m sure many parents are) about what I do now and the effects it will have on my children later. By all means, I’m confident about my parenting abilities and I’m always trying to improve but it’s so hard to figure out fact from fiction when there are so many “experts” out there.

Do you choose to follow an "expert's" advice? If so, which one and why?

If so, if you have seen them, how have they turned out? Are they homeless, prostitutes, pregnant with no job or what?
cause im in high school and almost all the girls in school are pregnant and kiss every boy they see. its just filthy no wonder they get pregnant with no fathers and h.i.v!!!

My friend has 2 kids her first kid's father died in a car crash, she is 3. her other kid is 2 years old. she is getting a divorce from her husband and she has no job, and didn't go to college. her 3 year old is in preschool that is 75$ a month. I know she will get child support for her 2 year old but what about everything else? she can't get a job because she has to watch her 2 year old and babysitting cost more money what can she do?

My daughter is not bad. She is well behaved, but there are times when she needs discipline. I have tried spanking (I know OOO bad) but she got to the point where she would turn to me and say "I don't feel like crying." I was not willing to hit her harder, so we tried sinding her to her room. That worked for a while, then she decided that she wanted to lay in bed and cry, even if nothing was wrong. Now we are doing time outs in the corner. I put her on a small step stool and she has to put her hands behind her back with her nose in the corner. When the timer goes off (Never set beyond 5 minutes), she has to tell what she was doing bad, appologize and possably discuss how she could have behaved differently. So far this is working, but where do I go from here. I know this will not last long as disipline and I am running out of things that work with her.

I know what you are thinking...but let me explain that she's been there twice this year. On her 2nd visit she gave me a hard time with the rides and especially in the shops. Not to sound selfish but this third trip is meant more for me to have fun and be able to go on other rides that she is not allowed into. But in a way i feel bad with the whole Christmas Theme i want my daughter to experience that magic..but how willI be able to enjoy myself at the same time?

My due date is Sep 20 2007...I think most of the schools cut off dates is sep 1...so would that mean my baby would have to wait for 1 yr to go to the school? Are there any other options? Please help!!

I live an hour away from my hospital, this is my first pregnancy and everyone has told me I'll have plenty of time to get there. I lost my plug two days ago and am 70% effaced and not dilated as of two days ago as well. I'm extremely nervous that I'll end up having my baby on the road. Do you guys think that's a possibility? I'm definitely going to leave earlier than the standard five mins apart rule...

I have 2 children , 4yrs and 2yrs. They used to go to sleep when they were put to bed, but for the past couple of months they just seem to be hyperactive and wont settle they have nonsense like jumping in their beds and laughing. I try playing classical music in their room to settle them down. I don't shout at them but i find myself going up the stair to put them back in their beds, this goes on for hours. Even if I ignore them and don't go up at all they are still up having nonsense, what can I do to just get them to settle down ?

I bought new and used maternity clothes and I spent $200.

I can’t wear sweats and t-shirts as I worked in an office and need to look presentable.

I bought pants, jeans, t-shirts , undershirts and I bought a few pretty blouses to make me feel special.

Do you think $200 is too much? I plan to use them with my next pregnancy as I picked items that won't be "dated" in a few years.

Now i'm pregnant again, and last week the doctor had a horrible time trying to give me a pap smear. Just wondering about other womens experiences with their tilted uteruses. thank you.

My period is about 2 days late. I took a test this morning and it was negative. My cycle is always 28 or 29 days long . The only unrotected sex my husband and I had was on the 7th day of my cycle so there is probably little chance of a pregnancy, but I am still curious. I am 3 days late and usually on time. For the past week I have felt like I was going to start my period but never happend. I keep getting mild cramping and lower back pains. My sister's daughter who's 4 slapped her hard in the face today. She's big for her age and actually gave my sister a black eye. This is the second time this has happened and although my sister didn't hit her for doing it the first time, today she slapped her back for it. I don't blame her really. How do you handle being slapped in the face by a kid?

or cup.. i've tried many different teats,bottles, cups and tried starving her. any suggestions as to how i can get her to take it i want to stop brest feeding her but not until i'm sure she'll take it from bottle/cup

I'm 24 years old and have 1 daughter that will be 3 on Dec. 23. I conceived last Dec. but miscarried @ 8 wks.(the fetus stopped dev. and reabsorbed) in Jan. I had a d&c done and was told I could start trying in April, so I did. I've been having my period every month but now I'm 3 weeks late. I've taken about 4 preg. tests in those 3 wks. and they all say neg. Has anyone had a similar situation? If so, did you go to dr. for preg. test and what happened? I'm not stressed nor have I been doing anything differently to throw my period off by any means- other than trying to conceive. any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. My last period was Nov 8th (my cycle is 41 days) it was heavy and painful as normal. Then on Saturday gone i had mild cramping. Then today I have had light brown spotting and no cramps - is this implantation. We have been trying for 2 years and 3 months ago we decided not to try anymore and see what happens.
