did it affect your pregnancy or anything else in any way?? I used to have a normal uterus. I guess it tilted after I had my twins. Now i'm pregnant again, and last week the doctor had a horrible time trying to give me a pap smear. Just wondering about other womens experiences with their tilted uteruses. thank you.

It usually took them until a little later in my PG to hear the heartbeat. Other than that, no concerns with the tilted uterus. Start having monthly massage treatments! See someone who does myofacial release. I think that my regular massage treatments helped my uterus turn earlier in my pregnancies. (The weight of the baby usually makes it tilt back to the "normal" position at some point in pregnancy.)

I used to. Apparantly I had a tilted uterus all my life...I had two children with no trouble at all. In fact, when you are pregnant, you uterus will grow big enough that it just about goes back to where it should be.
I did go to the doctor (GYN) in Jan of 2004 and I had mentioned that I had a lot of lower back pain and that my menstrual cramps were getting worse over the past few years but I didn't even mention the tilted uterus to him...when he did the exam he said "Did you know you had a tilted uterus?" I said yes, and he said that it may be beneficial to me to have a Uterine Suspension. So, in Feb of 2004, I had a Uterine Suspension done by laproscopy...and as soon as I woke up in the recovery room...that back pain that I had for as long as I could remember...was GONE!!!
The downside is...he didn't mention to tell me that if I had more children...It might cause a problem. I am now 36 weeks along and at about 16 weeks, I had horrible muscle pains in my abdomen where they had taken muscle to lift up the uterus and attach it...but the pain went away after a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, ther is a chance that after I have this baby I may be back where I started with a tilted uterus...but if you are having any back pain...like I was...I strongly suggest getting the procedure done when you are finished with childbearing!
Good luck and Congrats on the pregnancy!

I had a tilted uterus before I got pregnant. The doctor told me it wouldn't matter once I got beyond a certain level in the pregnancy because the uterus expands so much. It shouldn't be a major issue. A lot of women have a tilted uterus.

I have always had a tilted uterus and I have four children-none of my pregnancies or deliveries were affected by the "tilt". The only thing that was affected was on my second pregnancy at 12 weeks the doctor couldn't hear the heart beat because the fetus was tipped back also...ultrasound detected heart beat just fine though!! GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!

I used to have a tilted uterus until I got pregnant, and then it flipped the way it should be during the pregnancy, and it is not tilted now. It doesn't affect the pregnancy at all or anything else.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I was told I had a tilted uterus when i was 8 wks(i'm 38 now). this is my first pregnancy so i don't know how it'll affect delivery. I know that my uterus is way over to the right side of my body, and yes my dr has a difficult time checking my cervix. I'm hoping that it won't make delivering difficult, but so far my pregnancy has been relatively easy and i've had no problems. hope i've helped a bit.

my sisiter in law has a bicotanent uterus and it made her have her baby 4 months early. her uterus was divided into a heart kinda shape but fortunately my neice is a beautiful 1 year old now she is a miracle. i dont know anything about tilted uteruses but if it causes any difference it should be slight and would not cause any damage to you or your baby

ive had a tilted uterus my whole life as do most of the women in my family.the only problem it ever really caused me was using tampons and sometimes sex could be irritating.but as far as my pregnancies it never really effected me.im on my 3 pregnancy and it does seem to be a little more noticible now during sex but my doc says i can have a normal delivery.

I have one and it is bothersome especially during my pap. It did'nt affect my pregnancies in anyway, probably because the baby grows so fast, the uterus streches and grows so fast, and both deliverys were normal.
