Pregnancy & Parenting - 5 December 2006

I am 14 weeks along. I all ready asked my doctor and he ignored me basicly and sent me on my way.
I never have had this with my last pregnancy . I have sharp pains on the top of my stomach.
Is this normal or should i be concerened?

My friend has a trip booked to go to the Dominican Republic in january but she just found out she was pregnant today (around 1 month) is it safe to fly, and what should she avoid on the resort?
She also got the Hepatitis B shot and the flu shot are those going to hurt the baby?

Since last month I started to have an allergic reaction but I don't know from what. Right now my best guess is the detergent we use to wash our six weeks old baby's clothes. I want to try not using it but of course the baby is more important than me and that's why I'm asking here. Unfortunately there is only one brand for baby detergent in the market that I can find, Dreft. Otherwise I would have tried other brands.

How different is this detergent than the normal ones we use? is it only more softening? has less chemicals? if I use normal detergent will my baby be affected by any chance or way even the slightest?

Hello Everyone I am a single parent of One child. and this is the worst year ever for me and my son. I'm usually on the other side meaning I usually give to those who are in need. I was laid of recently Nov 17 to be exact. Between trying to hang on to the things we really need like house,car,lights,gas there is no room for X-mas. my son is 12yrs old and Im sure he'll understand that we don't have it but I don't want to give up that easy. It takes a lot to ask for help. If I Could get asst from any one out there for a gift card to like Best buy, Or Walmart or T-maxx or anywhere for that matter it would deeply appreciate. He really wants a game boy or a cell phone but so that's why I ask for the card so if you could or if you can help with anything it would help us out.He were's size medium men shirt size 20 pants and size 8 shoe. my daughter bites her nails. i tell her to stop but she wont, i've tried putting nail polish on them but she still does it. she bites them so low that their almost stubbs, you cant even see them over her finger.

My daughter has an assignment that is a little confusing to us?? the instructions say draw a river, lake, mountain, peninsula, island, valley, and then she is suppose to glue them onto a outline of North America. Any ideas on how she should "draw" a valley to cut out and then place onto her outline? Please help, we are so stuck!?????

With my first child I went a week over and then was induced the labor was very hard and long. My cervix is ripening and I am dialating but the contractions aren't coming and the father works out of town and will only be here til the 9th so they are going to induce on the 8th. Due to the length and how hard the labor with my first induction was I'd really like to go into labor before then . Any ideas.

my period was due on the 25th of novemver and it still hasnt come i keep getting tummy aches like its going to but it hasnt my breasts are really sore to the point where if i knock them im nearly in tears i havent taken a test yet as i just wanted to leave it a few more days i just need oppinions as to if you think i could be...?? i dont feel sick and i am not urinating anymore than usual i am a little bit tired than usual. i am not thinking about my period coming so i really cant be stress as im sure it would have come by now thanks for your answers ... xx

I'm 20 years old and I haven't graduated high school. I can't get anything better than minimum wage and I'm unsure if I would even know what I'm doing with my baby. My roomate has said she'll help me out, and my boyfriend says he'll be there too.
Sometimes, I'm sure I'll be able to do it, but other times, I'm not so sure.

Ok.. this is my second child and he so different then my baby girl. He will not sit up and he will not crawl..he does this belly crawl thing on his stomach or he will just get on all fours and rock and geerrr's at me. When I sit him up he just falls back, he's not even trying.

Worst of all is he is not sleeping through the night... Has anyone tried the Ferber Method? I'm thinking of doing it but i wonder if it works or not. The doc. said it would probably work..

Is this normal for boys? I heard they develop slower then girls.

im 30 weeks pregnant and since about a couple of days ago, ive been having some kind of dull pain or pressure on my pubic bone it feels like. I've been having little cramps on my lower right side abdominal, sometimes on my right side by my belly button and most of the time, my lower abdominal, almost where my pelvis is at... the cramps aren't bad, i get them on and off, probably once or twice daily.. but they're not really bad, but i notices it. i dont know if i'm pregnant yet. i am 12 days late, took 3 hpts and all came out negative, and took a blood test yesterday... i'm waiting for the result.. j/w... if i am pregnant... is it normal to have little cramps on my right side?

What are some things to avoid while trying to conceive? By this, I mean the obvious, like stop drinking, smoking, etc, etc. But what about non obvious things, like stop drinking coffee, or similar things? List some things that you have heard, or even old wives tales (if you know any).

My husband and I are not trying to conceive just yet, but I'm just curious for when the time comes.

I was spanked, most of the people I grew up with were as well and we turned out alright. Also learned respect, discipline, and what the word NO meant. (I'm 29) Now, kids have no respect for their elders, have such smart mouths, and consistantly whine until the parents give in.

My daughter is going to be 10 in Feb. The hair on her legs is blond but very thick and long. She has been self consious about her hairy legs for about a year now. People, including family members, make comments about them. I was considering helping her to use Nair instead of shaving but am concerned that it will just make it worse if we dont keep up with it. I dont remember what age I started shaving at. For moms and dads with older kids... what age age did you start letting your daughters shave? Do you think I should start helping her use Nair instead.. or just wait till she is older?

I was wonder where this ovulation calculation came from, I have gotten pregnant 3 times and all 3 where NEVER during that period, I always gotten pregnant about 3-4 days before my cycle was to start. Now I am trying to get pregnant and trying HARD to figure out when I am fertile - has this ever been anyone's problem? I know for a fact when I got pregnant all 3 times and it wasn’t during that ovulation period.
