Hello Everyone I am a single parent of One child. and this is the worst year ever for me and my son. I'm usually on the other side meaning I usually give to those who are in need. I was laid of recently Nov 17 to be exact. Between trying to hang on to the things we really need like house, car, lights, gas there is no room for X-mas. my son is 12yrs old and Im sure he'll understand that we don't have it but I don't want to give up that easy. It takes a lot to ask for help. If I Could get asst from any one out there for a gift card to like Best buy, Or Walmart or T-maxx or anywhere for that matter it would deeply appreciate. He really wants a game boy or a cell phone but so that's why I ask for the card so if you could or if you can help with anything it would help us out.He were's size medium men shirt size 20 pants and size 8 shoe. Or if your hiring in the area of Rockford IL.I'll take the job please listen to are prayers I can be contacted at teshau1@yahoo.com Thank you

You can contact a local church and ask if it is too late for the angel tree program. Put both of you on it. If you have a St. Vincent De Paul society in the phone book, give them a call. The churches love to reach out into the community at Christmas so give them a call. The secretary will answer and direct you where you need to go. I did this for two years in a row and was blessed beyond my wildest dreams. One person put 50 dollars in a card for me and told me to buy myself something knowing full well that I wasn't planning on it. I received gift card for groceries, food, stores, etc. You may not get a cell phone (which in my opinion is a bad gift for a 14 yr old unless it is a pay as you go), but he will have gifts.
You are in my prayers.

If I had it I would help you...I have been a single mom and I know how it is. I raised my son alone for awhile with barely any money. Now I am married with five kids but we are living off of one income as I cannot work so we are barely scraping by. I am just trying to pay for necessities myself and the only way we gave our kids a X-mas was to cash in my husband's vacation pay. This month won't be a very good one for us either because we still have to figure out our bills that we are behind on. I do wish you and your son the best of luck.

In your situation I would think that the local churches and any government agencies in your state that offer assistance should be able to help you get emergency aid like transitional assistance, food stamps etc.

I hope that your son appreciates how hard you are trying to provide for him. I know it's hard at X-mas because you want to give them whatever they want but I think kids need to learn to appreciate the love that's there too which I think gets missed alot at this time of year because of the commercialization of X-mas. I hope things turn around for you. I know this probably doesn't mean much because I can't help you, you are in my thoughts.

I think it takes a lot of guts to put your plea on the web. I am proud that you can have the courage to put your feelings aside and do this for your son! Although i would love to help I have 4 children to try to provide for, but you can check with your local salvation army, local churches and even your son's school( without his knowledge, to save embarrasement for him) unfortunatley children at this age can be very cruel!!! I am sure that there are several resources in your area if you start checking them out! Good Luck and may God bless you!!
