Pregnancy & Parenting - 13 November 2006

My husband wants to buy something for him to carry our baby in when it is born, but he's worried that the carriers will be hard on the baby's legs. I thought maybe a sling would be better, but I think that they can probably only be used when the baby is fairly small. Does anyone have any opinions on which is better. Thanx for your input!

I'm doing a child study on 2 - 3 year olds at school and am stuck on a question! As a parent how do you react when your child cries? Do you get angry, worried, try to bribe it to be good with sweets, etc, or do you try to soothe it by talking to it for a while? What kind of a question is that?!

So...I am 17 1/2 weeks today, and I was told this weekend that I look much further along than 17 weeks. I have a small frame...have always been little...I wieghed 145 when I saw the doctor last week. I do get bloated as the day goes and especially after I eat...but could I be too big. I am all belly!!! I have not put on any weight anywhere else really except my boobs. I dont know what to do...I feel like a fat cow. Maybe I am too big!!!! I think I am going to cry...again!!!!

I became stepdad to two great boys when ythey were 5 and 7. NOW they are 13and 15 and can do nothing but make fun of me and deliberatly disrespect me verbally and by laughing or making little comments. Their mother has done all she can. We understand since she is their natural parent that discipkine should be from her. She's constantly in the middle trying to smooth it all out and discipline them, as well we havea 4 and five year old daughters together. We don't want to make the boys feel unloved but all we can do lately is tell them how disrespectful they are being. We are patient & make it extremely clear at the exact moment it is happening what is unacceptable--we get an "OKAY" with a forced apology. It still continues....it's affecting the peace in the home. All I feel like doing is giving a good butt whoopin! We also understand how there might be resentment now that they getting older about step dad not being the biological dad but wishing theire real dad was there.

someone in my son'd playgroup said studies show that kid's that learn to crawl early have lower IQ's then kid's that crawl later in life. is this true or is she just jealous my son was crawling at 4 and a half months and her son is 7 months and not even sitting up yet?

I have PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome) and endometreosis and have been trying to conceive with no luck.I am going on 26 and I have never been pregnant.I've been on clomid and that did'nt even work.I am in hopes of being a mother in the future.

My husband and I are trying to conceive. My cycle is due until around the 16th but on Sat I woke up with a couple of spots in my underwear. I put on a tampon and when I took it out it was the color of the end of your cycle brownish. No bleeding the rest of Sat or Sunday. What's going on? Help!

My tummy is still pretty small but the baby is 100% growing fine + healthy. When I got pregnant I was 100 lbs and now im about 115lbs. (havent had a big weight gain even though I eat alot)

Im 26 weeks and dont have any stretch marks yet.

Will they develop in the coming months?

My brother has a three year old daughter who is afraid of nothing and will stop at nothing to get her way!! He got a call from her school this morning saying that she kicked another child in the back and he was asked to come and pick her up. She will not be able to return to school untill they have a meeting with a coordinator. He was so emberraced to have to go and get her under those circumstances, I myself have a 5 yr old and didn't have problems like this when she was three. I love my niece, but she is so mean, doesn't listen, and really doesn't care. My poor brother is a wonderful father and has tried numorous things....time out, napping, talking to her, taking away favorite toys, rewarding her for good behavior etc. Any advice from you other parents who may have treveled this road would be great!

I am trying to find out if there is sensitivity training for nurses and Dr.s who deliver babies with Down Syndrome or other obviouse special needs. Is there something for the nurses who work with the babies and their families before they are discharged from the hospital after birth? At my local hospital where my son was born, the nurses and Dr's clearly had know idea how to act. They were not mean or rude, they just basically said nothing. Would'nt even look us in the eyes. I don't blame them . They did not know what we were going through and if they have never had training, how would they?

Did you get to hold your baby that passed (if he/she was already formed)?
I did and it was very difficult. The baby was was very tiny and I just held him/her in my palms for a long time until I was ready to let them go.

I was wondering is is 100 precent that I will conceive? I know right after I had intercourse I went to the bathroom and washed off kind of like douching, under facuent in and out cleaning so will that kill the sperm and make it less precent to conceive? I am regular about 28-29 days of leteal 14 days so... my ovulation was started yesterday of Nov 12-18. My last period on Halloween. So? Is it still 50/50? Or less chance after cleaning?
