My doctor also gave me a list of all the over the counter meds that I can take. She should ask her doctor if these meds will work for her as well.
**Headache, aches, pains, fever -- tylenol (acetaminopen)
**Cold, allergies, sniffles -- chlor-trimeton, sudafed, actifed, benadryl
**Cough -- lozenges
**Heartburn -- tums, rolaids, maalox, mylanta
**Constipation -- colace 1 or 2 daily (docusate sodium, stool softener), surfak 1 daily, citrucel or metamucil
**Hemmorrhoids -- tucks, anusol suppository, anusol hc-1 cream, nupercainal cream
**Diarrhea -- kaopectate

I would ask the pharmacist or your doctor. I know the only thing they say is really safe in the first trimester is Tylenol. I know a lot of cough medicines have ingredients in them that are not safe. What I did was get some buckley's white rub (same as vix) and some fisherman's friends. Disgusting but much heathier for the baby and at least I could breathe.
Also they say you are more prone to colds, flus etc when you are pregnant because your body naturally supresses your immune system until the placenta takes over for the baby so your body doesn't treat the early pregnancy as an invader.

There are very few medicines that are safe to take during pregnancy. Tylenol can be taken for aches and pains, and Cepacol losenges can be used for a sore throat. Other than that, she'll just have to drink lots of fruit juice and rest.

As every pregnancy is different, she should really talk to her doctor. My doc gave me a list of everything I could take for every different ailment I might come across, but it would be best for her to talk to her own personal OB (she can give them a call, no need for a visit) and see what they recommend :)
