What do you mean by 6 day cycle? Most women have a 28 day cycle.
Cycle refers to the number of days btwn the 1st day of one period, and the 1st day of the next period. You're most likely to ovulate in the very middle of your cycle, so if you have 28 days btwn the first day of your periods, then day 14 is usually your ovulation day (which means you should have sex the day before).

I'm assuming you mean your period was 6 days long. Your menstrual cycle is not just your period. The first day of your menstrual cycle is the first day of your period. The last day of your cycle is the day before your next period. Therefore, most women have a 28-30 day cycle.
Even if your cycle is 28 days and is regular every month, it doesn't necessarily mean you will ovulate on day 14. I suggest try charting your daily basal body temperature. You can learn how to do this and chart your temps for free at fertilityfriend.com. This site also has great information about ovulation and conception.
You can also use ovulation kits, which run about $20 for 7 tests. If you are already on day 14 of your cycle, it may be too late this month (cycle) to get an accurate result.

The length of your cycle is the time in between the first days of your periods. In other words, the first day your period starts is day one of your cycle, the day it ends is the day before your next period begins. It doesn't sound to me like you are figuring that out right. It sounds to me like you are counting how long your bleeding lasts. You can get pregnant at the halfway point of your cycle, which is 14 days if you are on a 28 day cycle. If there are 30 days in your cycle than your ovulation day is on day 15....get it?? You can only get pregnant when you ovulate. Hope this helps!

To be sure, go to Walmart. Buy an ovulation indicator test (about $10). start at around day 11 and pee on a stick. Do this every day until it indicates you are ovulating. And then...well....you know what to do then lol. I gotta pregnant quick this way and I'm forty years old. Guess my eggs weren't scrambled yet hehehe
