My friend's baby is 1 week old exactly & she does not want to latch on. She developed jaundice also. The nurses at the hospital said that she needs something so they recommended that she pump & feed it to her in the bottle. Now she is concerned there will be nipple confusion & that the baby might not go back to the breast. She is having a hard time due to wanting to breastfeed straight from the breast, but this is the only way to get her fed.
Will she be able to go back & forth with the breast & the bottle without nipple confusion?

I put a post to someones question about regretting abortions a few days ago. Well today I get this awful email from this woman saying I should regret not holding my son as he died. First off I think this is a personal choice, and I made the one that was right for me. Second, how could someone hold a baby so tiny (he was 16 weeks gestation) and see his heartbeating and watch him die, knowing there was nothing you could do for him? I guess I'm not that strong. But I couldn't believe the audacity of her telling me I have a lot to regret because I ended his life and never even held him. I was dying!! I would never have made that choice otherwise. I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that woman. If you were in the position of, if you didnt' deliver you would die, no matter what your baby was going to die, and you had three small daughters at home, what would you have done? I don't regret my decision, I regret no having any other choice. I'm so upset!

Have you ever noticed that when a child is wanted, it's a baby. But when it's not wanted, it's a fetus. Why does anyone think calling the scientific name makes it less of a person?

My teenage daughter Elizabeth had been a good kid in elementry school and middle school, but now that she's in high school she's out of control. Her grades have gone from A's and B's to straight C's. I've talked to her about her classes, but she's unresponsive. Her teachers say she has potential, but just refuses to try.
Her new friends are also worrisome. She's got a new boyfriend who's a junior (she's a freshman) and I'm worried about that relationship. Her new friends also smoke, drink and party every night.
How can I get my daughter back? I've talked to her about consuling, but she refuses to go. I'm a single mom, and I want Elizabeth to have a good future. I want her to go to college, but at the rate she's going, she'll never get a scholarship. What should I do?

I know that a potential employer cannot discriminate for your being pregnant, but they can say there are other reasons. I am applying for various paralegal positions and the lawyer today was honest and told me that my being pregnant is what would keep me from getting the job. I am not going to report him because I respect the honesty, but I would like to know the experiences of others.

They fell out with her over something really stupid and now they are making her life hell at school. Constantly calling her names and being really nasty, they have turned most of the group she was friends with against her and she is spending all her breaks alone hiding in the library. She no longer wants to go to school and says she wants to change schools. She is in yr 9, and should be doing her sats soon. I have involved the school and they have talked to the girls involved but straight after they were spoken to they carried on. I dont know what to do for the best, the school have advised me against changing her school because of the sats but I dont want her being treated in this way.

Any Advice? Serious answers only please

I took an HPT yesterday and The second line was almost invisible but I could still BARELY see it. I want to know if it's possible to see the line (let me emphasize it was almost invisible) But I could make it out. It wasn't quite pink, but it wasn't white either. Were my eyes playing tricks on me, is it possible to see the line and it not really be there? I should have had AF come day before yesterday.
Anyone else have the same experience, what was the outcome?

Thanks.

P.S. Yesterday was my B-day, so this would be an awsome B-day present!

Also, I read it within the 10 mins. between 3-5 mins.

I have 2 kids of my own, 20 month old boy and 3 year old girl. I keep a 16 month old boy M-F 6:45am - 4:30pm and a 3 yo boy 7:30am - 5:30pm ONLY on Thur-Fri. A month ago a lady called and said she needed childcare for 2 weeks b/c her husband (who normally kept them during the day) was going out of town on business. I normally charge $100 for babies up to 12 months and $90 for kids over 12 months OR $20/day for drop ins. So I would normally charge her $190 b/c she has a 6 month old and a almost 3 yo. I decided to give her a discount and charge $150 since it was 2 weeks and the kids were siblings. She works 7-4pm and said she would drop them off at 6am and pick up around 5:15-5:30pm at the latest. 2 weeks go by and she needs me for a third week. 3 weeks go by and Sunday NIGHT I get a msg that she needs me for one more week and will decide by Thursday (tomorrow) if she needs me permanently. Out of the 3.5 weeks she's been here by 5:30 only two times. All the other days it's been...

Two of my daughters, aged 13 and 5, respectively, are very fussy eaters (the 9 year old, thankfully, does not seem to have picked up this trait). In particular, the 13 yr old has decided to try 'vegetarianism' which her mother and I are willing to accommodate within reason, however her grandfather and uncle are completely unwilling to compromise. Her uncle has gotten into several battles of will with her, trying to force her to eat meat- and not only meat, but _rare_ meat. He's an excellent cook and very interested in dietary measures, but how can I convince him his efforts are doing more harm than good?

My son is 9. Is he old enough to start cooking? He's average as far as maturity goes, but not very responsible. He's got a touch of Hyper ADD too. Anything easy he can begin to help with in the kitchen?

Ok here it is. I have been watching my brothers son since he was 6 weeks old. He is now 3 months. He has always been a very happy go lucky baby. Now within the last week he is having tantums that nothing help with, he is drooling, and has a little bump on his gum. I have two little girls ( 7 & 8) so I know he is teething. The problem is my brother and girlfriend are not so sure. They say it has been to long since I have had a baby to know the signs. So they are just letting him cry. ( he even has tears when he is doing it and screams like some one is killing him) But they said not to give him anything. They are making a doctors appointment for some time next week. This is killing me! I hate to let him cry like this. How can I convince them he is teething! I have thought about going and getting pain relief and orajel but hubby thinks I should butt out! Plus don't really want to start WW3.

I know parenting can be wrought with guilt, so just not sure if I'm doing the right thing. I try to take away toys, tv etc. but in the end I get sick of saying the same things over and over and I just want her to know whose in charge, the yelling seems to be the only thing that gets her to stand up and take notice. I just feel so awful afterwards, I want to know if this is "normal" or is the shouting abusive(or does it just feel that way)?

Ok, if you had sex a week before period, and then about the same time of ur period you went to the beach can it cut ur period? or that mean you are pregnant if there is no period at all, and does it work too if you are virgin?

I took a pregnancy test and the negative bar showed up, but I kinda wet the little window without wanting to, and there's a slight purple tone. Could that mean that it's positive? or could the urine made it that way? I'm flipping out because I don't know if that matters.
