I don't think it's more painful. I only have one daughter, I was induced though. I think that more than having more pain, it was probably just more drawn out than if it had been done naturally. I ended up with a c-section because of how long it was taking, it was stressing my daughter's heart. Good luck. And don't worry too much.

I would say being induced does hurt more than a natural birth. I've had both. When I was induced I had lots of complications and had alot of gas and air for pain relief. Half the problem with being induced is that you have to stay in hospital and be on monitors alot through your labour. I found this meant I had to lie down- which is the most painful and un natural way to be during labour! When I had my second son I went into labour naturally and I didnt go to the hospital until I was 10cms dialated and I kept moving for the whole thing. I dont mean to scare you but having a 10lb 6 baby naturally hurt alot less than having 8 lb 13 baby with induction and pain relief!!!

Yes, labour is more painful, if it is induced.
Labour should, only be induced on medical grounds ;
like foetal distress
or pre eclampsia
and certain other conditions
Never for social reasons
The labour process, ideally should start naturally ,
this is the safest and best way, to have your baby
at 40 weeks ( full term), with a slow steady onset
a midwife , present
who knows her patient and can assist her,
throughout her labour---- to a happy delivery .
Discus any fears ,with your doctor or midwife .
Just remember there are babies being born all the time , at every minute of the day!
And your baby will be the best of the lot !!!
let us know ,when you have that baby in your arms xx

From what I've heard the contractions from an induced labour are stronger which means that they are more painful but the labour isn't as long as stronger contractions are more effective than weaker ones at opening the cervix and psushing the baby out. So you don't have to bear them for as long as a natural labour.
As the length of time you're in pain seems to be a major factor in how well women cope with labour (6 hours of pain is easier to cope with than 48 hours of pain!) it might be that an induced labour is easier to cope with. As you would be induced in a hospital you should have a full range of drugs available to you./
I'm 35 weeks and hoping to have a natural labour in a midwife led unit but I wouldn't mind too much if I have to be induced as its likely to be shorter and I'd have more painkilling options in the hospital. So don't worry!

I was induced with my 1st child and went through half my labour with no pain relief and then ended up havin an epidural to get prepared for an emergency c-section as the baby was big, things went fine thank god but for my 1st baby i wouldnt say it was terrible pain but the contractions did come hard an fast in a short period of time. You will be fine. Try not to think about it as the thought is probably worse than the actual labour in the end.
Good luck!

Apparently that is the case but i have to say i didn`t notice it being any different from previous labours . I was induced with baby number 3 ( i have 4 girls) and the contractions came really quick but i had a long labour still , around 10 hours , with a third is fairly long so i am told .

I was induced the pain came fast i cant say whether it was more painful cos ive only had the one but i mean at least i wasent out shopping or anything when my waters broke i didnt know that much water even came out lol! That would have been embarrasing! They had to break my waters for me but i mean it was over pretty quick well 12 hours but it seemed quick to me i fell asleep in between the contractions with that pefadine and the gas and air is some good stuff

I wasn't induced, but I know several ladies that were and they said it is more painful compared to their previous labours.

being induced is where your body is forced into labour, therefore your cervix is being forced to dilate. i was induced with my son but had my daughter early. i was told that being induced was more painful, but to be honest labour is that painful you can't tell the difference

I think so. I had 3 induced and one I went into labor naturally. The induced were ironically longer labors also.
