When it is in the womb it is a fetus, regardless of who desires to have it. After birth, it is a baby, regardless of who desired to keep it.

No, my baby is a 20 week old Fetus, that's just what she is. She can't live outside of the body yet, hence she's a fetus.
I am not the least bit offended when people use proper medical terminology.
I tried for 5 years to have her, so yes she is wanted, and I do refer to her as both a baby and a fetus.

Ask myself that question many times. I do know that it wasn't a stone inside me that turned into a baby. Any woman that has had a child grown inside her 9 mos. sure knows it is a baby from the get go, no matter the proper scientific name. Let a woman miscarry & it was a baby she grieves not a fetus. So glad I knew the difference in my heart.

I don't know, but I agree with you. Never, outside the drs office did we refer to her as the fetus. She was: It--when you're kind of new to the whole thing and can't really think of what else to call "it" when you don't quite feel like you know "it" yet, The baby, and eventually, even though we never new before she was born, we just knew it was a girl. A couple of times, we'd use her name, but I always felt a little sad for her cause I didn't want to be calling her a girls name if she was a he.

You know what I think is sick; I've seen posts on here that ask "Where can I go to abort my baby." Disgusting. I don't agree with abortion and I think it sounds even more disturbing when a woman wants to abort her baby rather than fetus. As far as the medical term goes; my doctor never once referred to my children as fetuses when I was pregnant. Neither of my daughters were planned. I still didn't go around saying "honey, the fetus is kicking."

I don't think a 'fetus' is less or more of a person.
I think that for arguements sake, the scientific name is used to take the emotional aspect out of 'baby'. People associate, usually, good feelings towards the word baby.

The person who is having it but dont want it dont want to get attached. by calling the fetus my baby, will get them attached.. So by just calling it the fetus, there is no attachements

That's so wierd... I would never have thought to call my little one "The fetus" when I was pregnant.
I think people use words a lot to manipulate emotion. Words are powerful things that can effect the mind in many ways... but they don't change reality

I think it disconnects them from their baby. And to those who said you call it a fetus because that is what it is....when you went to your doctor did he continutally call your baby a fetus or did he refer to it as "your baby".
