He says some words (mommy, daddy, yes, no) but his vocabulary is not very big and the rest is like a foriegn language. He does understand everything we say though. He speaks his own language a lot and I was just wondering if that is normal at his age. I think my 4 yr old was speaking better at this stage.

I just had a funny conversation with my cousin who thinks I'm a horrible parent, and I'm depriving my child because my baby's room is not all done up "nursery theme style" with banners and posters and etc. All that is nice, but I explained I'd rather her select her own theme for her room once she gets into different characters in a few years. Shes only 9 months, I see nothing wrong with keeping things neutral. My oldest turned out to be a Sponge Bob addict at age 2, so all the Pooh Bear baby crap I spent hundreds of dollars on got the royal toss for hundreds of dollars of Sponge Bob (and Batman) merchandise.

She e-mailed me elaborate pics of her baby's nursery. Done all in Classic Pooh, down to the rugs, nuts and bolts. She asked me if I even loved my baby, since I didn't "go all out". What does this have to do with love? I have just learned my lesson from my first one. All this comparing crap gets on my last nerves!!

basically 'RUIN' their children? I find this ridiculous and hurtful to those women who do and plan to be working moms. Not every women has married a man who makes enough money to support the household alone. Nor does every woman want to have to give up their career, and why should they? No one tells men they have to give up their career. I say more power to which ever one chooses - to stay home or work! (I know people wrongfully put down stay at home moms too, but you usually don't hear that staying at home will ruin your kid's life; I'm just pointing out this particular stance that I have read recently)

Why do parents feel the need to be their sons/daughters buddy instead of disciplining them (in a loving way of course). These parents usually end up with a whiny, spoiled, miserable child. Do they not realize that young children not only need discipline, they want it. It provides routine and structure, it's very comforting to them. What do you think?

Why would you want the one you chose?

donate to the starving and needy children of the world. Also, how much time and personal resources they spend trying to find homes for the unwanted children of the world. Basically, for all the people who say abortion is wrong because there are people out there willing to help unwanted children, how many of them demonstrate this by putting their money where there mouth is?

My son is 21 months and was a very later walker. He walks now but has a hard time and falls constantly. He goes to therapy to try and help with his tippy toe walking and running, but he does stand flat footed sometimes. It is so hard to keep shoes on him cause his right foot is turned and all his toes looks like he has horrible arthritis. His pediatrician just keeps blowing me off like nothing is wrong but there has to be a reason. I heard something about birth complication causing this, has anyone else? Or has anyone else seen or had this problem?? His poor little toes make me wanna cry cause they are just so crooked and curved and he always gets booboo's lol (ouchies) on them when he falls and trips. Does anyone know of eve some shoe that help with this? Anything will help....

This is more of a poll than a need for info. I was just wondering about what others do. I stopped saying my son's age in months when he was about 18 months and I was going back an foth between 18 m and a year and a half. From that point until his birthday I just told people that he was almost 2. Now I only still use months when I'm talking about developmental issues and months seem important.
How do others think of it? I have heard many people use it up to 3 yrs/36 months and I even heard one mother talking about her 60 month old.
Just curious.

i was in the hospital last night having contractions 2-3 mins apart...but they werent moving me along so i was sent home to wait it out. i am 38 weeks and 3.5-maybe 4 cm dilated and 70% effaced....my mom who is my main support while i deliver is going away on thursday and wont be back until monday...i really need her to be there when i have this baby. i have my husband there but my mom is a nurse and has been through this so many times i dont want to do it without her. last week my dr stripped my membranes but that didnt do the trick obviously...so i am going to call monday and ask them if they can induce me...the hosp. said they arent booked on wednsday...but im not sure they will induce for a nonmedical reason like that. does anyone have any opinions...is there a possibility even?? i think they are getting my money they should...but what do you think?

I would just like to know what some of the best advice, or tips people have for becoming pregnant. I know everyone is different, and i know the basics of charting ovulation, I was just wondering if anyone has any other of their personal input as to how they conceived. If you could share that would be fantastic! My husband and I are in our second month of trying!Thank you!!

She's been doing this since she was about 6-8 mos old. They 're HUGE...like a man poop, and it hurts her soooo much...Milk of Mag...DOESN'T HELP. It is sooo stressful, and I can't hardly take the pain on her little face. She eats anything we put in front of her( just not a ton of it). Her fiber probably needs a boost, but it can't be just that.

Is it cheesy to use your maiden name as a first name for a baby?
Also, which sounds better? Garrett Foster or Rylan Foster?

Do you believe that when you are too strict on your child and place too many restrictions on them, and are overprotective and don't allow them to have much of a social life, that when they are old enough to move out or go to college, then they will get very wild? I know several people like this. One of my best friends parents would not let her do ANYTHING. They were always checking up on her, wouldn't let her go out with friends, and placed a lot of rules on her. Eventually she ended up pregnant at 17, because she snuck and got a boyfriend whom she ended up having sex with. The harder her parents fought to prevent her from seeing him, then the harder she fought to see him. So do you think that sometimes there is such a thing as having TOO many rules and are her parents to blame?
