This is the alfa feta protien test that is used to determine abnormalities. My doctor recomended that I do an amniocentesis. I don't feel comfortable doing it. Has anyone ever been asked to do one. How was it did it reveal anything beyond the ordinary?

to say that they should be breastfeeding? It is really none of your business if someone chooses to breastfeed or not. Some people don't feel comfortable breastfeeding and it ends up frustrating both the mom and the baby, some women can't breastfeed because of medical conditions, some women can't produce enough milk for the baby. So please quit chastising women that choose to use formula. I pumped breast milk for my preemie son for the 10 weeks he was in the hospital on a feeding tube and when he came home he went on formula and he just turned 2 last month and has no delays and is very smart, so breastfeeding does NOT have to be done for a year or longer to have a smart or healthy child!

Just wanted to know...my boyfriend is taking meds for his heart, and we're trying TTC. I just wanted to know if we did get pregnant, would the meds he's taking have any effect on his sperm or the baby? (quality, quantity, defects...etc) He's in his late 40's as well, so that's a double wammy. Thank you.

I was recently married, and it seems like my parents have pulled away from me emotionally somewhat. They approved of the marriage and love their new son-in-law very much. I just want them to know they're still so very important to me. What did you feel when your child was married? How can a newly married young adult show her folks that she wants them in her life?

My once sweet, loving son has been such a nightmare lately-his room and area of basement to play in are constantly a mess; he is destructive with his toys; he has to be told over and over to do chores he's been doing for 2 or 3 years. We've tried taking away toys, privleges and outings. We've begged, bribed, threatened, even spanked (only once). Nothing works. He lies, exaggerates and tells such tales I don't know when to believe him.
He's had a tough year; my MIL died a few weeks ago but he wasn't really close to her; his best friend's Mom has cancer and we're 6 hours away from them. My health has declined quite a bit (I'm disabled due to lupus). His father changed jobs and seems to no longer enjoy doing things as a family or even with our son. I've tried to keep up a good front for my son's sake but he's a very intuitve and intelligent child. We're at the end of our rope and are considering taking him in to his pediatrician.

My cousin's girlfriend (who's my bestfriend) just found out she's pregnant, for the 3rd time. She's 20, unmarried, and my cousin's not exactly stable(not ready to get married or have kids as he's still a student as well), and she's still studying and supporting herself in fact. She's gotten 2 abortions before and it would jeapordize her life if she were to do it the 3rd time. There're no welfare supports in our country. I really dont know how to advice her in this situation. We're Asians and will be terrible ostracised to have a child out of wedlock, and i know my uncle and aunt would be so against the marriage. (and personally i think she can do with a better guy-even if he's my cousin) How do i help her??? She's depressed. Please advice!

what would you do? if after having a baby they sent you home from the hostpital, you have this baby for between 6 months and 1 year. Then the hostpital contacts you to infom you there was a mix-up,the baby you have is not really yours. You have the option to keep the baby you already had for almost a year, or get the baby back that is really yours. If you could only have one of them which one would you choose????

It may seem like a bit of a morbid or disturbing question, but I would like to know.

When a woman has a miscarraige, do they have some special procedure for disposing of the dead baby? Or do the parents clean it off and put it in a tiny coffin? Any ideas?

Once again, I'm sorry if anyone feels offended or disturbed by this, but death is a reality, and it has to be dealt with somehow.

I am pregnant 5 weeks along now and cant kick the smoking habbit. It is driving me insane. I am alittle worried about quitting and gaining twice the weight and also miscarrying due to the stress. I smoke about 3/4 to 1 pack a day and seem to not be able to quit the habbit. What should I do? There has to be people out there who have smoked and been through normal pregnancies? I would just like to hear the pros and cons.
