I've known people to be at 1cm for a couple weeks, so you may still have a while. By next week's exam, your doctor will probably be able to predict closer, especially if you've made good progress by then. Until then, I'd relax and maybe finish up any little details in the baby room or buying an adorable "going home" outfit for the new baby. Also, make sure your hospital bags are all ready to go, since it could happen any time! Good luck and congrats!

I have been 1 cm dilated for 10 days now. I had a blood cloth come out yesterday too, after having a vaginal check, it's normal, it's the mucus plug that seals the cervix, also called "bloody show", some women loose it on its own, others after an exam late in pregnancy.
Sometimes vaginal checks will incite some contractions too, but they might cease or take on, depends on your body.
Neither the little dilation (you have) or losing the mucus plug can give a certain indication of how long it will be until labor starts.
A more certain indication that labor will soon be here is if your water breaks.
Be patient, you have such short time to go!

It's normal to have some spotting after a vaginal exam.

Being dilated to 1 cm right now really means nothing. You can walk around for a week or more dilated to 3-4 cm and 100% effaced! (I did!) Or you can be closed up tight as a bank vault and have a baby a few hours later. This is the reason that many midwives don't do cervical checks until you are in labor, if even then.

You could have a baby tonight. Or in a week. Or even in 3 weeks. (38 to 42 weeks is normal gestation.)

Just try to relax and enjoy the last days of your pregnancy. Labor will come when your body and your baby are ready. No one can really tell you when that will be.

If this is your first baby, and you are 1 centimeter dilated, labor could start anytime or it could be several days away. After having a pelvic exam with the doctor checking your cervix, it is normal to have some bleeding, as you describe it. Most likely your doctor was checking to see if your cervix was stretchy, or "ripe" enough for labor to start. Sometimes doctors will do what is called "stripping the membranes" meaning that they can feel that you are ready to go into labor, and they will try to separate the fetal membrane away from the cervix hoping that it will move things along. You have to dilate to 10 centimeters to deliver your baby, and with a first baby, dilating from 1 centimeter to 10, when your labor has actually started can take up to 12 hours or more. With a second or subsequent baby, labor is usually much shorter.
If you notice that the bleeding is increasing, or if you notice leaking of fluid or a gush of fluid from the vagina, you should call your doctor and go to the hospital, because it means that labor is starting. If you start to notice contractions that last one minute long and are five to ten minutes apart, at regular intervals for at least one hour, labor is starting, and you should start getting ready to go to the hospital. Try to stay at home for as long as is comfortable for you. Congratulations and best of luck to you and your family.

Oh great, you are close, so get ready. Due dates are simply estimated arrival times. You are fine to deliver now, you may have given the Dr., some slightly inaccurate dates for your last cycle, and that is all they have to go on for your Estimated Due Date, but labor can occur 2 weeks before or after the EDD.
Just make sure you are prepared, at home and in the hospital for your surprise delivery. One centi, could stay there for the next week, but the blood could be from the exam, or even that your cervix is opening and baby will be here soon. Talk to your doc.

It could happen at any time now, births are all different if you start contracting call your hospital for another examination. I had contractions for 3 days was 3 cms dilated they had to induce me and 12 hours later at 10cms fully dilated the baby didnt want to come out his head was in a position where he couldnt go down the cervical canal basically he was stuck. The specialist had to suck him out with a vontuse? machine like a suction cap. He was fine born perfectly healthy but with a purple mark on his forehead like the size of a tennis ball which went away after 5 days.

Moral of the story you will know when your labor has started but get checked out anyway, the doctors will know how long you have to go. Good luck.

Could be quite awhile yet. 1cm is not very promising. Bleeding after vaginal exam is common, but clotting I'm not too sure about. You should call your dr. or call your hosp. OB unit and just speak with a nurse. You can do that anytime. They can tell you if clotting is ok, or they might want to see you. Don't take any chances. Never heard of passing clots that late in preg. Except mucousy bloody clots, which is your plug coming out. But dark? Do call and ask a nurse, I promise you wont' be bugging them! Good luck and congrats

anytime really, it could be a day, a week, etc. You just bled because of the doc checking your cervix, all normal. I was 1 cm, for a week, the following week, i was almost 3 cm, then that night i went into labor, when i got to the hospital I wan't quite 4 cm at 1 am, then at 4am I was fully dilated and effaced. It was my first too.

It could be weeks. I was 2 centimeters and had bloody show for a month and a half before my water broke. Good luck though! I remember how excited i was to be dialated at all.
