Don't worry about what your friends think, the only person's opinion that matters is your own. Go for it! As for actually asking, see if he wants to get lunch sometime together just for a start, then go from there.

I does not matter, what you're friend's think, necessarily. If you value their opinion, and, you don't feel that they're being biased or judgmental. Perhaps, your friends see something you don't.You state, that you, 'really' like Phillip? Does Phillip, even know you exist? If you're too embarassed to ask him out, then don't. Just get to know him better, and hopefully a friendship will grow, and I'm sure you can handle it from there.

What do you care if your friends like him or not? You like him, and that's enough. Whatever is going on is between you and him, and none of the friends' business. Maybe he has same feelings for you. You never know unless you ask. It doesn't have to be like a "date" date. You can simply go out, or rather hang out, as friends who share similar interests, for example. Nothing to be shy about. Find out what movies he likes and say "Hey! wanna go see a movie today? I saw the commercial, it seems pretty cool." And then you go simply as friends, that's all. Nothing wrong with that. Friends do it all the time. You have to start as best friends first. And then see from there.

you ask around to see if he is gay too. it would be embarassing if you asked him and he said no. then, i don't know, just hang out with him maybe after school, just you two, or be in a club he's in or something so he gets to know you and he will probably be able to tell you like him, and then if he likes you too, then ask him out.

You can't spend your life worrying what your friends or other people like or don't like- if this boy seems nice and you want to be his friend, just do it! You don't even have to ask him out- how about just spending one lunch period with him?

Well, you should be sure that he is gay too before you do anything. If he is, just talk to him a lot, he'll probably get the hint and you should be safe to ask him out. He'll probably say yes.

If you like him ask him period. There is no "how" to it you simply do it. As for your friends...are you going to let your friends dictate your entire life for you?
