We seem to have "patriotic" Americans shouting we bailed your asses out in world war2 etc

But America fought and helped Britain out in World War 2 (on the ground) for two years?

Britain helped America out in this one for four (or five)..years.

- we also helped in the struggle against communism for forty five years..

You didn't forgive us the debt (lend lease agreement). We paid it off in full last year.

(repaid in full with interest).

Casualty figures don't come into it, we didn't know how many casualties there would be (and neither did you in Iraq).

We would have paid any "blood price" in Iraq..
(bearing in mind modern armour and medicine make casualty figures a hell of a lot lower in modern warfare as opposed to world war2 etc).

So morally.. Republicans - bearing all this in mind..Are there some that still feel Britain owes you anything, or that British people should feel endebted to americans.
Do you now think Britain and America are basically quits

Here is the definition of "satisfactory" that the Bush administration used in its report to Congress. Is a satisfactory grade some progress, or is it just double talk?

"As measured from a January 2007 baseline, do we assess that present trend data demonstrates a positive trajectory, which is tracking toward satisfactory accomplishment in the near term? If the answer is yes, we have provided a 'Satisfactory' assessment; if the answer is no, the assessment is 'Unsatisfactory.'

WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON
President Bush, defending his troop surge in Iraq, insisted Thursday that the insurgents attacking US troops in Iraq "are the same ones who attacked us on Sept. 11."

Bush was speaking at a White House press conference on the same day an interim progress report on his troop surge in Iraq was released. Asked for proof of the connection between insurgents in Iraq and the 9/11 hijackers, Bush said both had pledged their allegiance to Osama bin Laden.
"The same folks that are bombing innocent people in Iraq are the ones who attacked us on Sept. 11," Bush said..
...." well look fellow Americans. Ya see I gotta blame this mess we're in - heh heh - that's the mess I put us in btw -- on someboy..ya know what I mean? So, ya see these 'insurgent' fellas' well they's the same ba----ds that did us in on 911. You better believe it." So ya see, we gotta keep up our "viglance". and we gotta stay there and do our duty on the 'terrowists"
.

Who else feels this way? He has screwed up this country and cost the lives of many Americans all for the sake of a country that doesn't want to change. Who agrees? All answers that are rude and obnoxious will be removed so don't bother. However, I do respect all opinions ( within reason).

you are objective enough to think the president is arrogant and ignorant. why do some think you must be a coward if you believe there is no military victory to be won in iraq.the far right bush loving , chicken hawks, who use these arguments are idiots. if you are a rational conservative can you explain these superficial knee jerk, talking points, responses which only serve to divide us further.

Ive been really confused about this for a long time.
I wanted to know what major should I seek and what profession should I go for that could get me involved in the politcal world. Its one of the few things I have going for me, and something I can see myself truly enjoying. I'm not really looking to become a politcian, but i wanna become involved somehow.
Any thoughts would be great, thanks.

So I've heard lots of rumors that some Americans still feel shafted by the War of 1812? Is that true and do you think we should pull our troops out of Iraq to prepare for a retalitory invasion of the United Kingdom? I mean, ignoring the fact that this is a completely unsupported argument, don't you think they deserve it?

You try to tell a joke to make someone see how ridiculous his/her claim is and then you get the little thumbs down guy? That's not nice.

But seriously, the War of 1812, don't you think we owe England one?
