You try to tell a joke to make someone see how ridiculous his/her claim is and then you get the little thumbs down guy? That's not nice.

But seriously, the War of 1812, don't you think we owe England one?

(see that's called satire)

I really do agree with you, but think some of those who posted above me are overlooking the most obvious reason why it falls flat here. With all the whack-jobs and conspiracy nuts on both sides saying totally moronic and incomprehensible things and spouting rhetoric all the time, it can be very difficult to tell if someone is joking, no matter HOW off the wall it might seem. I've actually congratulated people on jokes here only to get an angry e-mail telling me they were totally serious. It's pretty scary.

I don't know, cause I love satire. South Park has ripped the Bush administration and whackos believing in 9/11 conspiracies plus they lampooned Gore and global warming, and I am completey surprised at how much I love "Lil Bush". I think political satire is fine and should be encouraged and should be present in every administration.

Satire requires not only a sense of humor, but a sense of logic and that requires a degree of intelligence few people have. As a result, a lot of people just don't get it.
