whats the difference between politics in america and europe? the only one i can find is that here, theres no nationalized healthcare. schools are generally nationalized, and theres plenty of welfare to subsidize drug addicts. in america, like many european nations, pension for the elderly is getting harder and harder to pay. and even now under bush's tax cuts, taxes are high enough to screw the middle class in the US. i would say america is already socialist...

WASHINGTON, July 13 — Two leading Republican senators said today that President Bush should seek a new war authorization and present a plan to Congress by Oct. 16 outlining contingency plans in Iraq. Those plans, which would include reducing American forces, should begin by the end of the year.

About time the republicans caught up with what the rest of the world has known for some time eh? Slower traffic keep "right".

Do you realize that in order for your right to free speech to be "infringed," it has to be the GOVERNMENT preventing you from speaking? You'd have to be arrested, or otherwise punished, BY THE GOVERNMENT, in order for your First Amendment rights to be infringed.

Do you understand this, or are you one of those people who thinks that someone objecting to a statement you make is an infringement of your freedom of speech?

Try to answer without partisan sarcasm. I'm curious what people really believe "victory" would look like. What is it that we're trying to do, and how will we know when it is done?

The House voted last night to withdraw our troops from Iraq by April of next year, leaving behind "a small force to train Iraqis, protect US assets, and fight terrorists" - and certainly to be slaughtered wholesale Mogadishu style. If the dems think the war is wrong and unwinnable, why leave any troops behind at all? Is it in the hopes that images of these troops being dragged through the streets of Bagdhad will turn Americans against the war once and for all? Or is it that they just don't have the political backbone to call for a full retreat?

Is there another issue I missed?

sprial (Iraq war) that will not only destroy him but most of the Republican party as well?

Do we really want to see the Dems in control of the entire US Federal Govt. for the next 60 years, once again?

That could be worse than having Bush in the White house for 8 years.

Nearly every conservative who "answered" the question below didn't bother to address the problem I presented; they just accused me of blaming Bush for 9/11, which I never did:

!. Greed on the part of too many Americans who do employ workers.

2. The fact is that too many Americans do not want to do HARD WORK! When i was 10 years old, i asked my dad for a quarter a week allowance. He told me that i could have more than that! Stunned, i asked how much. He pointed to the lawn mower (the old kind without a motor) and said "go to work!!" I started cutting lawns, delivering newspapers, and raking leaves. A little older, i worked construction, dug ditches, picked tobacco, bailed hay, and anything else i could get my hands on. I joined the service, worked very hard, attained a decent rank, and earned a college degree. Point is that too many Americans are afraid to get their hands dirty by doing an honest day's work, for an honest day's pay. i would never think of taking welfare or anything like that!! HARD WORK IS NOW SEEN AS THE SIGN OF A LOSER. It is a shame!!

The Republicans are in self-destruct mode. The vast majority of the American public are against them, Bush and Cheney have incredibly low approval ratings, and they are doing it without any outside help!

The November election results did not wake King George from his reverie. Democrats took back control of both the house and the senate and still he pours $12 billion a month into someone else's civil war.

In two more months time the Republicans will destroy their reelection chances for 2008! Let's let them! Pull back a little and watch the show!

This is a debacle that the Republican party will have a hard time recovering from, if they even do recover; it's delicious to watch.
