Well it would have to happen at the same time. Once Bush resigned Cheney would become the President and would appoint a new VP, then if Cheney was impeached the newly appointed VP would become President.
Pelosi has a better chance if Bush resigns and Cheney drops dead of a heart attack before being sworn in.
Don't worry though, Bush will not resign, in case you haven't noticed he does not back down to pressure from either party.

Bush and Cheney impeached? Don't hold your breath. Impeachment would require 2 non-existent things: 1. An actual crime by either Bush or Cheney. 2. Courage and grit on the part of Pelosi.

Pelosi?! Pelosi? Are you freaking serious? I've met her in person on two occasions and she is the most condescending person I have EVER come across. Due to the fact that I wear a uniform, I am treated like a criminal. She is the worst thing that's ever happened to our Nation and she needs to stay in San Francisco...that little oasis of the country where she fits in...or France. I'm all for equal rights for women, but this chick is a nothing but an embarrassment to our country, including our Armed Forces, the 1st Amendment and capitalism...

I was not for impeachment, but now I do believe that hearing should take place in the house for both Bush and Cheney. From the lying about the war in Iraq, to the prison abuses in Iraq, to the wire tapping without permission, and far more. Bush and Cheney need to be held accountable for the trespassing of the Constitution. The outing of a CIA agent from Cheney office, to the pardon of the very one, Scooter Libby that can out them, for using the power of the presidency to punish their political enemies.

Hillary might be a little upset if the “first” title is taken but as a patriotic American she would realize that the chain of events you described is for the good of the country.
