Actually, it acomplishes a lot. It makes people more distrustful of each other, makes people more cynical, and makes the US that much weaker. Great going guys.

There are lots of Americans who hate their country.
All you need to do is to hate half of it to make that true; political bigotry is common (sadly so) in many places which are public.
They have free speech, but so do we to answer them.
Some of the people you are talking about have just that problem.
Some of them are right.
Protest can be very patriotic.
Cheering a war can be very patriotic.
The question is: Does your country come first, or your personal ideology. Does the Constitution come first? Or your hatred of half the country?
It will accomplish something if all of us point it out when it's true. It won't stop it, but it will wake up a few youngsters who confuse socialism with patriotism.
It will only put you in bad company if you use it against someone who loves our country and puts it first.
Oh, they may be a bull-headed fool with delusions of godhood, but if they put the country first, I'll be proud to call them a fellow patriot even while I argue with them.
I've had my bull-headed moments my self. That's what having friends rather than clones is for (thanks to all my Republican, Independent, Libertarian, religious, atheist friends out there).

No.
But again, I have been accused of being just that. Personal attacks are how the ill informed attempt to win an argument.

Some people are consumed with hate and many libs do in fact run around talking about this country like it is the worst place on earth while downplaying all the positive things we have done for the world- that is a lot like hate or self loathing. And to the dingaling who bad mouthed Rush and Hannity, you guys should actually listen to the shows from time to time and you'd know that they are nothing like what you make them out to be.

I don't accuse liberal Americans of hating there own country, I merely point out how they wrongly blame their own country for every bad thing that happens in this world....
