!. Greed on the part of too many Americans who do employ workers.
2. The fact is that too many Americans do not want to do HARD WORK! When i was 10 years old, i asked my dad for a quarter a week allowance. He told me that i could have more than that! Stunned, i asked how much. He pointed to the lawn mower (the old kind without a motor) and said "go to work!!" I started cutting lawns, delivering newspapers, and raking leaves. A little older, i worked construction, dug ditches, picked tobacco, bailed hay, and anything else i could get my hands on. I joined the service, worked very hard, attained a decent rank, and earned a college degree. Point is that too many Americans are afraid to get their hands dirty by doing an honest day's work, for an honest day's pay. i would never think of taking welfare or anything like that!! HARD WORK IS NOW SEEN AS THE SIGN OF A LOSER. It is a shame!!

Bravo and well said!!! I too worked and started at the age of 12. I consider that a sign of good upbringing and great parenting.
And for those who say that they can't afford to start at the bottom. Too bad. That's where most of us started and you simply have to work your way up. We aren't born with sliver spoons in our mouths (with few exceptions).

I had my first paying job at 12. I worked in The haying fields 12 to 14 hours a day for $1 a hr + meals. I also picked strawberries for $.10 a pint. picked beans for $,03 a lb. I also got out of school in October to pick potatoes for a $1 a barrel. When I was 15 I worked weekends & nights after school in a saw mill. I stacked lumber for $1 a hr. After going to Vietnam at 18 I got a job as a truck driver. I drove 11 states. Anywhere from Houlton , Me. to Baltimore. & 2 providences of Canada.I stopped doing that kind of trucking when my newly wed wife asked me to. I took a cut in pay to drive local for my wife.I also since then have done many jobs, anything to support my family.

damn thats all I got when I was a kid too was a quarter, but thats only if I did the work they told me to do. And same deal I would mow my grandfathers lawn with the old manual push mower too until he finally got a powered one.
( and damn people are afraid of kids being around machinery now I was 9 or 10 years old pushing a mower that had no guard at all on the spinning blades.
But on the issue, the things you say are true, but its a much bigger issue that just coming down to that. There are alot more components to it. But yes that is one of them for sure.

Plenty of Americans would do the work if the pay was right. The cost of living in this country is far greater than the cost of living in Mexico. The money they get is worth way more to their families back home than to families in America. It's not that people don't want to get their hands dirty, it's they want to get paid enough to be able to support themselves for it. I'm sure as a child, you had no concept of cost of living, as you had no bills to pay or mouths to feed. All your pay was disposible income and that's why you couldn't believe your father would give you more than you already needed. The problem in America is that the Empoyers are greedy and you were definitely right about that. The rich want to get richer and make the poor, poorer. I commend you on all you r hard work, but I think that you underestimate Americans. Generally, we are one of the most hard working countries on the planet. This country wasn't built by itself. It took hard working Americans to get where we are today with our abundance of wealth and power.

Your 100% right!
we need to fine employers $10,000 per Illegal they employ, and suspend any Licences the bussiness needs to opereate, and raise the fine to $50,000 for a second offense with a lnger suspesion, for a 3rd offense go to $200,000 per Illegal worker and a PERMENANT revokation of all Licenses needed to run the Bussiness.
That would cure the Greed proble once and for all.
Enforcement is the Key!

NAFTA and the other free trade agreements have made workers jobs liquid and with farm subsidies we sell our produce cheap and drive their farmers out of business then they seek higher wages and stability. We allow big business to cut our throats slowly so we don't see it coming. Middle class slowly edges lower and upper class higher soon we will all be just like immigrants. it is all in the name of corporate profits, export your job to cheap labor countries and let cheap labor into this one, do away with pensions cut corporate taxes but taxes the workers . until we are all in a liquid workforce. that is what big business likes high productivity low wages no benefits.

Yes you have the none workers in this country, but the 3rd world has also chosen not to install infrastructure in their country. Much of what the US citizen has paid in taxes has gone into creating infrastructure. Today's illegal doesn't acknowledge that. (S)He just considers the anti illegal as racist. Those statements are totally self serving, because they enable them to not look at their accountability.
