The Republicans are in self-destruct mode. The vast majority of the American public are against them, Bush and Cheney have incredibly low approval ratings, and they are doing it without any outside help!
The November election results did not wake King George from his reverie. Democrats took back control of both the house and the senate and still he pours $12 billion a month into someone else's civil war.
In two more months time the Republicans will destroy their reelection chances for 2008! Let's let them! Pull back a little and watch the show!
This is a debacle that the Republican party will have a hard time recovering from, if they even do recover; it's delicious to watch.

tehabwa: You are right, the dems have kept funding the war despite winning last November's election.
Yes, of course I care about soldiers dying, but why don't they all realize that they are wasting their lives and refuse to fight someone else's civil war?!? No one put a gun to their head and made them all enlist.

it's difficult to do when you hear on the radio every day about more and more people dying.
But of course, since the Senate and House can't agree on anything, without getting a big veto stamp on what little they can both pass, I suppose there's nothing to do but sit back and wait for September.
You will still allow me to scream at NPR every now and then though, won't you?

Well, no one expected the November election to give Mad King George a brain transplant.
The dems were supposed to stop funding, and not freakin' CAVE.
I understand your point (though we don't know whether Republicans will continue to steal elections -- they're 2 for 2 after all -- so don't count your chickens).
But frankly I find this attitude callous.
What with the death, maiming, and other damage and all.

Yes, Bush has a very low approval rating but, Reid, Pelosi, and the democratic led congress has an even lower approval rating. It's a long long way from being in the bag buddy.....
I also like the way you show your true colors. You don't give a damn about our troops or the Iraqi people, you just care about destroying Republicans..

There is some good sense in what you say....but in two months, how many more of our young soldiers are going to die? How many more innocent Iraqis??
I don't think we can ever sit back and watch what happens. Bush has a bunch of dirty tricks experts who will, no doubt, come up with a way to snooker us into believing he needs "another 6 months". We need to keep the pressure on our wimps in Congress.

So, in the name of political expediency, you think it's okay to do nothing and allow our military servicepeople to die, knowing what we know already?
That's a heavy price to pay for political power, and the price is being paid by someone else. I feel there is a moral obligation to not wait. It may take that long for enough people to get on board, but to set a goal of waiting until then doesn't work for me.

do not permit progressives fool you, background exhibits that they love conflict extra effective than the different political ideology. they suspect the completed international would be an more suitable place decrease than their rule, an imperialist collective utopia.

You bring up some good points. However, my 24 year old nephew died there. I don't want someone else's nephew to suffer the same fate.

well... we are in congress... so we have some responsibility to still TRY and do things... and TRY to do the congressional duties...
now if Bush stands in the way... we can't help that... but that doesn't mean we should do nothing...
you don't want the president saying... "well no one said anything about it when I did it"

As much as you despise Republicans, vengeance isn't noble. Their folly costs American lives and needs to stop sooner, rather than later. There's just too much at stake to let this nonsense continue for political gain.
