One thing about the movie that realy bothered me besides all the senseless, ruthless killing by those jewel thieves was the beginning when he got discharged..

In the movie as you saw it at the beginning, he let his team know he was gonna make the save before those POWs got killed. If he didn't make the save, they would've got killed. What he did is "save their lives" instead of waiting for that team which would've come too late. He didn't deserve to get discharged for that. And what about being denied an "appeal" when he was getting his discharge? That was an unfair injustice, what happened to him. He deserved an appeal, and if he if didn't intervene the way he did, he wouldn't have saved their lives.

What would have happened in this scenerio in real life?
There would have a been a good defense on his part, right?

(One more thing, I think all guys should get laid before going off to war and dying instead of dying as virgins...)

They literally tell kids at my school, 'OH YOU WON'T BE SENT TO IRAQ', but last year the few who did sign up were in Iraq within 3 months. Such Liars. So much for integrity of the military. So much for the best and brightest. Such liars.

Just curious if there were any medals in the Navy that you don't have to be in a hot zone to earn?

I take it there would be service medals to commemorate X years in service, but anything else? Are there any Navy medals that don't carry over to the Navy Reserves?

I am into wilderness survival and have been looking into to becoming a SERE. SERE stands for Survival-Evasion-Resistance-and Escape. I am not sure of how to get to be this particular specialist or how the training is. What all would I do? Would I be in combat, or would I just teach others how to SERE? Thanx...

We have adopted a new soldier (Afganistan) & his men through anysoldier.com. He lists basic needs which we have sent. We have not had any correspondence with him

Would it be silly just to send a fun package with cards, magazines, silly putty, barrell of monkeys, small games to play for Christmas or should we stick to basic neccesaties?

Here's some of the things they'll say:

1) We're not winning.
2) Things will get worse.
3) Bush lied

The next thing they'll start saying is that we're winning because of them! It will happen!

Would they love it if more of our brave troops died?

Blackwater? Hmmmmm.....This is very interesting. An Amway owned private militia. Now, if any of us formed a militia wouldn't we be considered a terrorist threat?
Since when was the US military no longer good enough to protect our diplomats? Why the need for this private group? Who is profiting from this? Amway? Very interesting...

"I was always embarrassed by the words sacred, glorious, and sacrifice and the expression in vain. We had heard them, sometimes standing in the rain almost out of earshot, so that only the shouted words came through, and had read them, on proclamations that were slapped up by billposters over other proclamations, now for a long time, and I had seen nothing sacred, and the things that were glorious had no glory and the sacrifices were like the stockyards at Chicago if nothing was done with the meat except to bury it. [...] Abstract words such as glory, honor, courage, or hallow were obscene beside the concrete names of villages, the number of roads, the names of rivers, the number of regiments and the dates." Ernest Hemmingway "A Farewell to Arms"
