We took over Sadam's regime. Now we are giving the country back to the Iraqis. We are training their police force and military so they can defend themselves and we can leave, so yes it is good.

Handing back to the people of the region means the job is complete and a withdrawal will take place in the coming months. If training is up to standards (IE foreign enforced capabilities) then the country can go back to where it once was. Local authorities meaning the actual policing of the state will be held to account on the international arena. How the locals will deal with these things remains to be seen. That is to say, they do not have such security as lets say Americans, Brits or any other nation. They have had to teach them these values. What happens to them when the door is closed again is unknown..but governments will adhere to the international expectations. If this means putting up gas stations and streets and shops and amusement arcades remains to be seen. Do you think these people like what we do? They have to..are being forced to do so. It's darn cheeky to get anyone to do just what you want and the way you want. Its diabolical - worse than the last war. If the far east was a shambles, then this is atrocious. Why the troops are there is only to insert what they believe is morally correct and just.

Iraq is taking on more of the military and law enforcement needs so their will be less and less need for our troops to be there over time. So I see that as getting better.

This means that the locals are taking over more of the government and military functions and relying less on foreigners to fight for their freedom.

It means we are installing our Puppet Oil people to turn Iraq from keeping their own oil, to giving it to giant Oil conglomerates from around the world.
Basically we destroyed a once secular country and have temporarily put in Religious Kooks into power. As long as they play ball with the Oil Cartels they'll be allowed to stay, if not, they will be gone faster than Saddam.

It means they are going to depend on themselves, and your husband will be back, but the question will Mr. Bush allow it?

hopefully it means they're gonna start taking a more active role in the defense of their country instead of relying on our troops...i have a feeling it might get worse before it starts to get better..since trying to fight an enemy that hides all the time is harder then fighting an enemy that stands out...

i think the IRaqi's are going to run their country "their" way...
we would do the same if some other foreign country came into America....such that: The people (US citizens) would stay silent for a little and "if" there were "invaders" here... we would rise against them... and oust them out of OUR country!
just my thoughts

Well, if WE say it, it means the good people are in charge & things are trying to go back to normal. What it means if they say it, they will go back to terrorizing anyone who doesn't believe in the current sand king.
