Blackwater? Hmmmmm.....This is very interesting. An Amway owned private militia. Now, if any of us formed a militia wouldn't we be considered a terrorist threat?
Since when was the US military no longer good enough to protect our diplomats? Why the need for this private group? Who is profiting from this? Amway? Very interesting...

Blackwater is not a militia it is a business that provides a service. Militia is what American citizens are able to organize to combat a threat from an abusive government or military. This is a right that is guaranteed under the US Constitution.

I am very certain that our armed forces are good enough to protect our diplomats but right now it's seems to be highly unpopular to do a proper job in Iraq. We would need a few more troops there to do that. It is also very common for the government to hire private contractors to help out.

EDIT: The National Guard and Reserve forces are NOT a militia. They are part of the US military. A militia is what your average citizens have the right ot form to help combat an abusive government or military. And that's a fact.

Blackwater has been for awhile. And is formed from former service members. And they help train firemen, service members, body guards, and secret service. Theses private contractor are only now making it in the public eye. However there are several other groups that do the same thing a Blackwater, just they are the ones in the paper.
They are doing the job that the service members can't do because of political reasons.
And as for protecting are diplomats, Don't you think that our service men are spread a little thin as it is.

Other than what you have read in the paper have you bothered to really do any research on Blackwater, and other companies of the same.

Like LIlIrish girl said, PSD service is not a traditional military mission. Blackwater employees are definitely not thugs. They will not hire some thugs to protect diplomats. Blackwater and other contracting companies have strong preferences for special forces and anti terrorism background. You have to have 8 years of experience, U.S citizenship, no criminal background just to be considered for employment.

Militia? They sound more like mercenaries to me! Blackwater is a 'private security firm.' Basically they are hired thugs.

The U.S. military is good enough, it simply doesn't have the forces to fight its wars and protect the diplomats it needs to. So they went out and hired mercenaries. Big business is profiting... off of our tax dollars, naturally.

They are probably not considered a terrorist threat because they fight for us, not against us.

The main difference between a U.S. MILITIA and a U.S. PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANY would be the fact that Militia would come under the control of U.S. Military Regulations and could not be offered immunity from their actions.
