For October, american deaths were 39, the lowest since march 2006. Doesn't this indicate the surge has worked? Things seem to be getting better in Iraq, don't you think?

No. As we've seen in recent months and years. The enemy has just shifted tactics. As the Vietcong did in Vietnam. When the Americans would come rollin in with the tanks and heavy machinery they would just blend in with the population and fade away into the jungle.

The Iraqis and Al Qaeda have a similar tactic. When we went over there (Iraq 2003) alot of pamphlets were found showing how the Vietnamese fought a long successful guerrilla was against us. The same Al Qaeda that fought successfully against the Soviets are operating in Iraq too. They have a multitude of patient and protracted tactics in use against us. So, only time will tell.

Things are getting better but that does not mean they can get worse. We need to be resolute in keeping the surge on track and then giving more and more control to the Iraqies as more terrorism is defeated.

It certainly has worked! When it was first announced, all the democrats were saying there would be more american deaths, well they were all wrong. Will they admit it? Not a chance!

In spite of the efforts of the democrats to encourage the enemy, blame america, undermine troop morale, alienate our ally Turkey, cut off funding, demand time tables for defeat, NONE OF IT HAS WORKED. The democrats have failed.

apparently, yes, but the Democrats will still push for our withdrawal....hoping and praying for more violence. If the surge works, and Iraq eventually becomes peaceful, what will they run on? More taxes?
