It wasn't the weapons that won the war; it was vast resources, better supply, and larger amount of manpower that won WW II.
As for the quality of German v. Soviet weapons comparison asked, the Germans were far and away better in their design and building of weapons. Soviet weapons tended to jam a bit more frequently, but again, since they could get more of them into the hands of their people (even civilians fought to defend the homeland from German aggression) they were able to win some decisive victories.
Yes, the German weapons did jam in the sub-zero temps, but it was because they weren't using the proper lubricant.
It wasn't until Kalashnikov developed the AK-47 that Soviet weaponry took a giant leap in quality, efficiency, and effect.
This, of course, was AFTER WW II; the '47' denotes the year of development and release to the armed forces.

The Germans only really produced one fire arm that was outstanding in my opinion it was the MG-42. I have fired the modern version of it the MG-3 which has a reduced rate of fire.
The MP-40 was very good but like most weapons of that era was made of steel with few alloys or plastics making it a bit heavy. The Russian PPSH 41 was good, easy to break down but was loud and heavy. I have read of accounts by Russians saying they preferred the German MP over their own and I have heard German vets say the reverse that the Russian MP's were better. So if in some reason or another you got stuck with one or the other I don't think you would have been in bad shape. My preference would have been the MP-40 with it's nice folding stock and 9-mm caliber.

generally speaking the quality and engineering was far better in German weapons. this applies to everything including machine pistols. Germany is famous for engineering and still is today just think German cars. the soviets just had more men with them

Lonnie P has the best answer to your question!
Couldn't have said it better myself!
German Weaponary was far superior to Russian (or indeed British or American)
German Tanks were 'over engineered' though, and caused a few problems! But they are arguably the best Tanks in the world today!

Russian ones could resist with the cold weather, as someone told you before.
But Germany had the best pistols. Just think about the Mauser...

Seeing as the Russian version functioned in the sub-zero temperature of the Russian winter when the German one jammed with the cold, I would have to go with the Russian version being the best!

Both were evil people.... so ...evil weapons..
The Germans and Russians are stigmatised guilt of that people. Evil People.
I'm British and proud to be it.... Americans and British won the WWII.
So... our weapons were the best.
