If you go to the US Navy not knowing how to swim how would your time be like in Boot Camp. I heard that you do not want to go to boot camp not knowing how to swim because they put you through hell. Thanks for your input!!!!!

It's been a common myth that some anti-war folks spit on soldiers returning from Vietnam, though no evidence or photos or video has ever been shown to prove this event. Regardless, wouldn't Limbaugh's attempted smearing of veterans be an equivalent to spitting on soldiers?

I personally think this is not the way to behave if he "supports the troops."

Now I know this mere question is likely to upset the unthinking types on Yahoo! Answers, but I urge you to post some kind of link proving you've done research to prove Limbaugh's lies that he was referring to only one soldier, etc.

A soldier's view of support.....

1. Get us the best equipment you can get your hands on. Not just the stuff some congressman or senator got because it's made in his district or he was bribed to approve it. The body armor we have is not the best. We can and should do better.

2. Down time for soldiers after their tour in combat. Not the 30 days of leave they would have earned staying stateside but some real down time to get reacquainted with their families. In addition, troops are returning stateside to watch our commanding officers give each other bronze stars and medals, do a change of command and then are handed over to the next hotshot who wants to immediately start busting humps in a high speed training cycle designed to help him get his next bronze star and nice bullet comments on his Officer Evaluation Report.

3. Stop opposing pay raises. We noticed even the president himself apparently doesn't think a 3.5 percent pay raise is in order.

hey,
I got a bet goin with a friend of mine about what color Beret the Airborne wears.
I say they wear black ones with the blue flash and unit crest and he says they wear maroon ones with unit flash and unit crest.

I've searched through a bunch of pic's in the internet and there are 101st Airborne units with black berets and then I see 82nd Airborne units with maroon berets...

Can anyone help?!

Hello, I have a pre-Selection interview with this fine body of men next week.

Now all the old Regiments have been amalgamated in to the RR of S, they have become Battalions (for example the Black Watch is 3 Battalion).

My question is, if and when I am accepted, how do you get assigned to a Battalion, and would you still say, 'I'm in the Black Watch,', for instance, or, 'I'm in the Royal Regiment of Scotland,'?

Please help a newbie understand how all these changes work!

Would she be sent to war zones, how close do they get to the fighting. What is life like for nurse students in the RAF and what's it like when they qualify. How is it looked on when they return to ordinary nursing is it looked on as a bonus or not?
We are going to the armed forces careers info but would like some insider knowledge!!

I basically got caught using drugs ( I know I was stupid) anyway I wound up getting Court-Martial and got bring time and a BCD.

Anyway the judge recommeneded that my discharge be suspended until my EAS. The Col basicly ignored that and gave me the boot.

A 1stSgt I was talking to said after 6 months if I am staying out of trouble I can contact a recruitor and come back.

Is this true is it possible to come back. I love the Corps and I will do anything to come back.

I made a stupid mistake I know and I took my punishemnt but is there any way to get another chance?

australian troops training lasts for 4.5 months to 6 months, not best eqquipped though but very skilled. better trained than americans.
spec forces training lasts` for 18 months but they have to become a regular before joining so add that up ehich is 22.5 months. thats why they never die in iraq and afghanistan.

I have been out of the Marine Corps for almost a year. I got out last time after having recurring injuries and I didn't want to sit there waiting to receive a package for injuries to I just got out. I can't really stand how boring civilian life is, I never got to do what I set out to do in the Marines, and college is unnerving so I want to go back. How long can I be out of the Marine Corps before I have to complete boot camp a second time? Its so mentally draining lol.

Source: My Nephew. What did he do? He said on his 3rd day of training he told his Instructor to hush up and to go mind your own business. He said from that point on the Marine drill instructor respected him after that. My nephew has been in for 15 months now. Says he got respect on the 3rd day of being in the Marines.
