As depicted in movie and games, how come nukes have a sharp, quick, white light go off and blind you? Does this really happen? A explanation will earn you your points.

Are soldiers viewed the same as those who fought in recent wars such as the Gulf War, Vietnam and the Korean War...or even further back during WWII?

Are military men/women still held high in regard to past wars? Does America still appreciate their efforts or have they received stigmatization in recent times?

I am an Asian, 28 years old. Couldn't decide if USMC is good for me or not. USMC Recruiter told I can only join as E-2 though I hold a masters in IT and professional work experience as IT-Programmer. Army and Navy offered me E-4/E-3 with bonuses. I certainly want to serve the nation , get citizenship and see myself as an officer in whatever the branch I do. I am skinny but never did Jim/workout/running... always work on Computers mostly.
My Questions:
1. Will I be able to finish the boot camp in USMC at 28?
2. Should I look more into Army/navy?
3. Do I have to start at E-2? in USMC?
Please help me to decide a right path . I am not married nor have any children. Would love to soon.

This morning I was over my parents house for breakfast (I'm staying with my mother and father in law). Since my husband is on an extended absence for his entry level Infantry Training (41/2 months to go sigh!) many father and two grandfathers can speak of nothing except their military experiences. One grandfather was drafted and served in Vietnam in combat. The other grandfather was a draft dodger (he was a war protester and "hippie" lol lol but still has "anti military experiences" to share lol lol). My father was a veteran of the Marine Corp, serving 6 years before he finished his enlistment. Anyway none of them were married when they served so I'm not sure how they know what they told me. They say that military wives are informally ranked. So an enlisted soldier's wife must show the proper respect to a sergeant's wife or officer's wife. Also they can only be friends with wives of similar status to them because of military regulations. I don't think this can be true, is it?

I'm doing a report and i need to know what duties these guys had. I've already done some research myself and all i can find is this:

"Legatus Legionis: The overall Legionary commander. This post was generally appointed by the emperor, was a former Tribune and held command for 3 or 4 years, although could serve for a much longer period. In a province with only one legion, the Legatus was also the provincial governor and in provinces with multiple legions, each legion has a Legatus and the provincial governor has overall command of them all."

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If a Captain in the US Army was shot in battle and he survived and recovered. Would and could they give him an honorable discharge or is that only for enlisted?

a friend of mine was very interested to join US Navy ever since other of our friends(US residence) joined recently. Now he was hoping & wondering if he can be eligible for it.
In addition to that, I know that only US residence or citizen are eligible for applying this, but still wondering if theres any other options he can do, since his starting to like to serve the country as a Navy.
Thanks!!!

The Invasion and occupation of a non-hostile country is ANTI-AMERICAN....No 9/11 involvement, specious terrorist contact at best and certainly not on the level of others we ignore or monitor....In short the only justification for Iraqi "war" was PROFIT...
If you are a soldier in Iraq YOU ARE A CRIMINAL and must for your own sake DESERT or face prosecution along with the rest of the anti-american neo-cons as "we were just following orders" was proven to be an ineffective defense at Nurnberg

the greatest politician of all.
He left not knowing where he was going, and when he got there he did not know where he was. He returned not knowing where he had been, decimated the well-being of the majority of the population while he was there, and did it all on someone else's money(oh wait was that Christopher Columbus the first swine to institute racial exploitation and state sponsored terror in the Americas. Bush seems to be continuing that fine tradition he celebrates on Columbus Day. He is willing to stick to his bought and paid for(by US) guns no matter what the reality. There was an old black and white WW2 film on telly about a n American Unit fighting the Japanese in Burma. At the end of the film you were told that this unit was dibanded just after the japanese surrender in Burma and how this unit was congratulated by the American President. The point is that the Americans never fought in Burma. It was the British troops who kicked the Japs out. The nearest American units fighting the japs were in the Phillipines. Why do they have to give us all this bull.
