a friend of mine was very interested to join US Navy ever since other of our friends(US residence) joined recently. Now he was hoping & wondering if he can be eligible for it.
In addition to that, I know that only US residence or citizen are eligible for applying this, but still wondering if theres any other options he can do, since his starting to like to serve the country as a Navy.
Thanks!!!

Unless the military has recently changed the rules, foreigners are allowed to be in the military too. Usually, they encourage immigration this way as you would get credit for your time in country while serving on orders outside the country. They also have the capability to give you specialized classes to help out with the transfer. I know several people who have done it this way and they are now citizens with the same rights as me.

Contact an embassy if your residence is outside the U.S., or if your country has a recruiter from the U.S. talk to them. They will square you right away.

Only a citizen of the United States or a person with a resident alien visa can enter the armed forces of the U.S. Not those with student visas or any of the "H" series of visas for employment. He will have to apply for and obtain resident alien status to enlist in the U.S. Navy.

a working visa is not enough, he must be a legal permanent Resident with Green Card.
