I am 41 years old. I applied for active duty with no prior military experience. I was denied for my age and because I have 4 children. Was stated" The military will not pay for that many dependants, its too expensive". You have 2 strikes, your age and kids, wouldnt let go. What is your opinion on this?

I want to take him to the Mosque in Dearborn Michigan to meet the outstanding Muslims who live in the city/Michigan. He will see these are outstanding people no matter what the Marines have told him. I hope and pray he will become a Muslim and can help the Marines change their attitude. Maybe the Marines can go to Iraq and pass out flowers instead of bullets. Then maybe peace will be at hand.

Its a copper pressing of a flamming bomb with the number one on it. There are two axes and four arrows with it. It has four tabs on the back that work like the closure on a manilla envelope. I have seen these locally (north western NC) but I have never known what they are for. My only guess is that its WWII related, but Im not sure. Thanks for any help!

I appreciate the UK Armed Forces is another one of his toys - to be thrown out of his pram when he's riding high in the polls, or to be trashed when he's rattled... but please... does he think this media savvy public are as thick as 2 short planks... because THAT IS THE IMPRESSION HE IS GIVING OUT HERE with this new statement about one of his toys -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7034010.stm
QUOTE "British troop numbers in Iraq will be reduced to 2,500 next spring, Prime Minister Gordon Brown has told MPs."...

Why didn't he go on to say where they would be 2 weeks later?
OH.. I know.. cos it's another great sound-bite for him THEN when he stands on his soap box and states the under-resourced troops on the ground in AFGHANISTAN - the REAL source of this conflict - will be INCREASED by a further 2,500 WOOPY-DOOPY !!

Thanks to NEW Labour "open -govt-policy" the Public KNOW it takes months to work such logistics of re-deployment out...

I could be an aul' cynic but....

We have been going strong for almost four years now, and have two beautiful children together. The chidren are young, two year old and seven month old. We live away from most family, only his Father is close. I truly believe he was made for this path in life, going and getting Military training would complete his character. I, however selfish this may sound, was not. I feel that the Military life will put a great burden on us as a whole. The lengthy time away will definitely be hard. Not because my temptations will be so great to cheat, but because I will feel like a Single Parent with responsibilities very high and overwhelming. Of course I can adjust and strive to make it work, but it will be the greatest loss if something were to happen to him. I have lost my Mother, a wonderful soul.... I could not picture this world without him in it. Please give light. The Marine Recruiter will be here in a matter of days to see what we have decided to do.

The average Iraqi soldier gets 4 months off a year, in comparison to 2 weeks for US soldiers. Whenever there is a problem, the Iraqi military defers to the US military to solve it. Basically, the Iraqi military are NOT well trained, not prepared to fight, and I believe this is because they simply dont have to. There is a competent army behind them that allows them to shirk any responsibility, and sit on the sidelines while we fight their battles. If we are waiting for them to be ready to run their country before we leave, we will be waiting a very long time. But if we started setting dates, this would pressure them into getting their act together.

Some argue that setting a time table for getting out just gives the terrorists and insurgents a date to shoot for. But at the same time, it gives the Iraqi military a date to shoot for as well, in terms of preparing to police their own country. They are not getting ready on their own - so maybe they need a fire lit under them.

Once again the black caucus is complaining about the number of black officers in flag ranks. I remember the old quota system that pushed blacks ahead of whites back in the 60's. Anytime Race offsets reality a problem is in the making. Instead of trying to increase the friction in the country the Black caucus should look at why so few become eligible. Inputting race is wrong. Affirmative action programs have shown how unfair they are. Race should not be shown on military records, other than medical records. The flag level ranks are decided by politicians and any fualt lies with them not the military.
