Interested in joining the Army, however I'm looking for an MOS that has a low deployment possiblity. Although I'd go if I must and I understand I cannot be promised no deployment I am looking for an MOS where deployment is uncomon. I understand the Army is the only military unit that will guarentee a specific MOS before signing.

If they need structure why not send them to war? A lot of them probably would rather serve the country in Iraq for a chance of freedom other than sitting in a cell watching television all day sucking up the tax payers money. And if they served the country well why not wipe their criminal history so they can start off fresh? Any of this would be better than releasing them after teaching them nothing but how to become a better criminal with no chance of being employed or making a good living. What do you all think?

My husband is going through a child support/child custody right now while we are stationed overseas, his dad has power of attorney to be at court for us. We have a child that was born before the paternity was established as well. Is the court going to take our BAH/BAS when it comes to child support even though our BAH/BAS will be changing next year and in the next 3 years as well? His NCO's say it is only base pay but civilian lawyers say they are not sure but it could be everythiNG.

My friend was in a car accident 6 years ago, during his Junior year in high school. He suffered several injuries to his hip and knee. But he now has full mobility and leads an active lifestyle. He had plans of joining the Marines upon graduation. He was an ROTC Battallion Commander. He has scored extremely high on the ASVAB and has a high IQ. I am confident he could pass the physical with no problems. But will all that be negated because of his injuries received in this accident? Also, is a particular branch easier to obtain a waiver for?

My boyfriend left to the Air Force basic training last Monday, and i have yet to receive that "short call" they are allowed. I decided to look up information on my own, and it said that by Sunday afternoon, they would get to call home to provide us will the mailing address. Does it depend on their Instructor when they get to call? and can the period before calling be extended longer than the first week of stay?

I have known my boyfriend for 5 years. We have been dating for 1 1/2. We both joined the military around 3 months after we started dating. We both went in as PFC's but now i am about to be an NCO while he is still a PFC. He is an active duty soldier and i am a reservist. He is stationed in Korea and im in the US. He believes that when I become an NCO we will not ba able to date anymore? I have been told it is ok as long as we arent in the same unit. Is that true???

Well it has been a year since the first time i walked into a recruiters office, to see if i could join. Well I joined and dropped because of a kidney infection and fear of my parents. They were upset about the money they took out in college loans for me because I had not yet finished school. College has really not been all that great for me academically. I basically got suspended for my grades. I'm back in school now, and I have two years left. When i should be finishing in may but I took time off after the suspension. I'm 21 and its been a year since i first considered joining, and i still really want to join. What should I do? should I wait to see what the world climate is as far as Iraq and Iran? I want to serve. I know there are other ways to do it. I really want to be in the air force. people tell me I should move out of my home town for awhile to see if thats would change my mind. They think maybe I am just bored. but my dad says they won't support me if I transfer.

Thanks for all the great answers people have been giving me about military life and practices. Also all the great web sites that have tons of information. Actually I probably could answer most (maybe all) of my questions without reference to yahoo simply reading all the great information on the web sites but honestly I LOVE ASKING QUESTIONS ON YAHOO lol lol. Eventually I plan to get to know the other spouses in my husband's unit (the FRG) after he finishes his training and if living at home do e mails, chat groups, and text messaging. Ok I found out from a previous question and from other sources that there is no formal hierarchy for military spouses as for their husbands but an informal one still exists ie I can't talk directly to the General's wife. I discovered the concept of the chain of command. My husband must go through his layers of supervisors. What about me. Could I talk directly to his commander if I have a question or concern, or do I have to follow his chain of comm

Why is it, the U.S. government does not want photograph's taken of the U.S. soldiers in flagged draped coffin's while being unloaded off of cargo planes? Have they not earned the honor of making every American see this and realize what a great self-sacrifice these brave men and women in the Armed Services have done, by giving their lives for the cause of this nation's future? Why hide it, the government is acting as if they do not want American's to see the end result of those who do battle and lose their lives in the duration. Perhap's if they showed the photo's, those is power would not be so quick to send these honorable individual's to fight and die, unless it was absolutely the last result to protect this nation, instead of putting them in harm's way around the world in civil wars and other foolishness which is none of our business such as Iraq.
