I come from a former Amish/Mennonite family, who still believes in Non-resistance. Is it wrong for me to join the military and (as they believe) dis honor them?

Is it hard to move with 2 80lbs. dogs? What are the chances of me being sent to a cutter directly out of boot camp if I want to be a Yeoman or Marine Science Technician? I am a married mother of one joining the Coast Guard in January. Thank you for your responses!

How do I search for obituaries of military men who died in Texas in 2002? Having a hard time with search engines. I do not have a name. All I know is older male, Army, died in October 2002 for sure in Texas. He had to be of high rank, most likely retired and for sure divorced.

That seems to be the only reason we are still there, for "security purposes." Why do we care if they kill each other?? The Democrats certainly don't.

We don't really like our current base...we're Air Force. My husband is thinking about an unnaccompanied tour. Just trying to get some info on if it actually gives you a base of preference or if it is worth it. If it's an 18 month tour, would he be allowed time to come home? Anyone with experience, help is appreciated!

my husbands co. is deploying in december, we have known this for a whilte and my plan has been to pack up my things and put them in storage and give up the apartment while he is gone and go stay with family. within the past few months we learned that the co. will be moving from va to tx when they return from deployment and will not be comeing back here at all. so i thought that i could just have the army move our things then....now with only like a month and a half left to get things done i find out that the military will only move the things if they are the ones to pack it....so what do i do? my things will already be packed and in storage by the time they need to move them.....

well my fiance just joined the national guard and i am scared to death that they'll deploy him to iraq.. well the recruiter told him that they wont send him as long as he is in college and in the universities ROTC.. is that true?? cause in my opinion that sounds like a load of dirt.. and they say that they wont be able to give our son benefits because me and my fiance arent married yet.. are they ripping us off? i know that i cant get the benefits yet but our son??? i dont know what to think.. i dont want him to be in the national guard especially during war time.. he doesnt go to training till next march.. i want him to get out of it before that time but i know that hell get discharged and that will be bad on his record.. i know he never should have signed up but what will happen to him if he just straight out tells the recruiter "nevermind i dont want to do this"?

Please, no lables in your answers. Liberal/Conservative, Democrat/Republican. Lets all work to destroy these labels as they only serve to delude the political discourse.

I didn't ask this to inflame anyone, I just wanted honest opinions.

There were no WMD's. There were no ties to al-Qaeda. While liberating the Iraqi people from Saddam is a nice notion, we have never historically invaded a country solely to liberate its people. And besides, if that were our goal, there are plenty of other places that would have benefitted more from American intervention. So what then?

And north american troop were the instramental troops in defeating the remnants of His german army in WW2?

so the north americans must now be considered the greatest fighting force ever? meaning even resources of north america defeated the Romans.

ya think the white populace would be more thankful to the north american indians for taking such good care of the land before they got here. since there are now so few of us, they should make us all Land Barons.

I mean ... look at soooo many games and movies ... they will all have the same script ... some classified super secret defense department would be researching some super shitty defense project and suddenly it would all go wrong and the research project ends up killing many many people .......( maybe a hero comes and stops everything but we'll for the time being ignore that part ) :)
We have all discussed this topic but do you think IF the world ends tomorrow ,,, some way or the other some US defense 'project' would be directly or indirectly responsible for it ??

I adopted a dog from the animal shelter and about an hour after I got him home he escaped through my front door. He is very scared and if anyone gets near him he runs away. I gave up the search when it got too dark to see, and now I don't know what's going to happen to him. He is roaming around base somewhere and I am not sure if anyone is going to be able to catch him if they find him. What should I do?
