I agree that there are a lot of people that do not like a Marine, or the Marine Corps in general? These people would be the enemy of the Marines, and their dislike for them is because they know the Marines are going to kick their ***.

Sorry I had to say it. The Marines have suffered great loss, but been victorious in so many hard battles. Just look 60 years back into history.

There are going to be people that dislike some other type of person. Personally I like the Marines on and off duty. I have seen many Marines come to peoples' aid when they are victims of crime. There are bad apples in every bunch. Those to say they don't like the Marines are just stereotyping them.

its cause they cant be one(joke) . Most people dont get the mentality so Marines come off has hard headed. I know when i wore my Alphas to visit my folks one in Air Force country the other Army country people came up to me and thanked me bought me drinks at the bar in the airport even got me a first class seat and that was in the mid 90's. Im not a Marine im a Corpsman spent most of years in with them. And had the best times with them. The thing about Marines is they are PROUD of their service they know everything about the Corps unlike alot of the other services thats why once a Marine always a Marine. When i go out and see fellow Marines we have a kinship. Many people cant get it.

Been around 66 years" kid-o" and don't know any body who doesn't like the Marines, have two brothers who were proud Marines and even thought I was an old Army Sgt. have alot of respect for the Marines. Excellent Fighters

UMMM and a NAVY person I would have to say because they have the wrong idea of what a marine is.."devil dog" its just that people dont understand. Or that the Marines has had more deaths in bootcamp then any other branch or that most of they seem one minded or brian washed. Its great to serve for your county but dont lie it change who you are and most Marines are not trained that way..it like they lose themselves in mind and county...they are not 1 items but two different things,

In my experience, most "civilians" who don't like Marines don't understand us as well as other branches. They just go by the rumors and stereotypes they heard from non Marines or the media that do not know what they are talking about, ie; Marines are arrogant and stupid. And then you have your inter service rivalries like one branch saying that it is better than the other. Most people including other services have nothing but respect for us.

I dont mind marines that much, like any other organization they have some good and some bad. My experience with a marine was he was nice at first then became an *** hole real quick. so to answer your question why do people not like marines, My guess would be because they can be very unpleasant some times.

although i'm not really sure which people you are talking about- i know that they are considered to be the most hardcore of the armed forces. my fiance is in the army & picks on every other branch of the military- a friendly rivalry i guess. but civilians i guess just don't understand them or are intimidated by them, especially tree-hugging war protesters out in california. [referring to the oakland airport not allowing returning marines & soldiers get off their plane at the gate like all other passengers- instead making them get off 500 feet away for no reason.] hope this helps!

are you talking about people in foreign countries. I was enlisted in USAF for 4 yrs and stationed in japan. there were negative attitudes at times towards military members b/c of unfortunate situations that involved service men, sometimes w/ the marines. however, most foreign nationals associate any negative behaviors on the "gun ho" marines which places a negative stigma on US military overall.

Generally speaking, Marines can be pretty hot. Yeah, that sounds shallow.

Anyway, the people who don't like Marines generally speaking, don't like them because they are trained killers and that's considered scary to some people.
