P-08 Lugers and P-38 Walther pistols were mainly issued to officers. Infantry men were armed with rifles (98K, later
MP-44 assault rifles for some). The MP38/MP40 submachine guns were issued to specialized troops, especially paratroopers. Pistols would also be issued to crews of heavy weapons, such as machineguns, anti-tank rockets, mortars, and flamethrowers.

Only officers would recive the luger. Foost soldiers recived the Kar. Higher ranked would recived weapons from the MP series 40, 41. There was also this Ak-47 look alike assault rifle, given to some of the upper ranked assualt soldiers.

officers got a Luger or if lucky a P-38 it wasn't as sexy but it worked better. They used every captured sidearm they could get ordinary landswher got a Mauser or Schemiesser. Special troops got the few assault rifles produced. Almost none of them got anything to match a M-1 Garand. any rank tried to get its hand on a sidearm of any kind. It was insurance.

Pistols were issued to officers and weapons crews (guns, tanks, planes, etc.). The detailed list of weapons is too long for this board.

Officer's didn't carry large weapons as they had to command their troops. They were in uniform generally and I believe they all used Ruger's in the case they were attacked.
