I adopted a dog from the animal shelter and about an hour after I got him home he escaped through my front door. He is very scared and if anyone gets near him he runs away. I gave up the search when it got too dark to see, and now I don't know what's going to happen to him. He is roaming around base somewhere and I am not sure if anyone is going to be able to catch him if they find him. What should I do?

Tell the MP's about it, call the pound on base and let them know what he looks like....they usually have a high ratio of "strays" coming in though...and they usually put them to sleep after a day or two of them being there. So you might have to call there every day or go down there and see if he is there...because they wont call you to let you know that they have them, at least on the base we are at. Flyers are always a good idea! Good luck! I hope you find him!

He's probably safer on a base then in public. Most military personell have respect for other military families and will try and find the owner. I would put flyers around base and also out in town just in case he ventured off base. How big of a base is it? Is there a way he could have gotten off base. Like someone else said, talk to the MP's. They are constantly driving around and probably have the best chance of running across him. Good luck!

Go to each gate and alert them to the situation. Put flyers with your phone & details in each store on base, commesary and any gathering place you can find. Put them also at the larger shopping complexes close to the base. Call the neighborhood humane societies & even vets. Just be a detective and keep looking. God willing some one will find him :) Best of luck.

Contact the military police/security police/whatever police for the branch you're in. They can keep a lookout for him, and know that he's not a stray.
