Religions aren't generally used as a guideline for war. Most religions are against killing others.
But religion is often the reason for war.

Because a religion should be against was.
If a religion is used as a guideline for war, then that religion is not using the commandments of A Holy Creator, it is using the guidelines of an unholy destroyer.
For instance, how can you say they respect the sanctity of life while they are killing people?

Why not, or better asked what should be the guidelines to war and what would you consider a just war. For our country religion should not be a justification for war as we do not represent one particular belief. But, would you justify war to protect the freedom of religion for others?
My opinion is that holy wars fly in the face of what most reputable religions are trying to reach, it goes against harmony and peace.

More wars have been fought over religion than any other cause.
James Madison, one of our "founding fathers" of the U.S. said it best:
"Religion and Government will both be more pure, the less they are mixed together."

Because religions are the pure inventions of man used to separate groups of people. See through it all, stop being such a religious bigot, and let the world blend into one.
