call your nearest base and ask about ship's tours. They usually occur during Fleet Weeks or if you do not live near a major base, sometimes a ship will pull in to port and offer tours.

as for getting underway on one, only if you are invited aboard for a family Day Cruise. Usually that means you have to know someone stationed aboard.

In San Francisco, and probably several other cities, they have a 'Fleet Week' during which active Navy ships dock and are open for tours. There is usually a show by the Blue Angels, and a fireworks display too!

Naval ships in port have open house on Armed Forces weekend, which is the weekend closest to May 18th on the calendar.
As for "taking a ride" some carriers have Tiger cruises. But, they are restricted to the immediate family members of the officers and crew.

When I was in the Navy we used to take people on tours all the time but as one poster said, they were members of a family that had someone stationed on the ship.

If you have a relative in the military he can request to give you a tour. But only when its docked and not moving.

there many ships that have been converted to museums and active ships often offer tours...if you have a relative in the USN ask them about a "Tiger Cruise"

yes,in san diego,cal,you can tour the u.s.s. midway,afloating carrier as a museum now

never for a ride, ever, too much stuff that ppl want to know that u might let slip even if its just something ordinary could be comletely top secret

i remember when i was in the Navy, we had a depends cruse, they the dependents, steamed with us all the way from,
Hawaii to, San Diego,.....
