The military industrial complex is destroying the USA. Our bridges falling apart, yet Bush wants another 50 billion for Iraq on top of the 147 Billion we've already pumped into Iraq this year... Pathetic.

what certainly now looks like a 21st century dominated by guerrilla wars because no one is stupid enough to take on the US military in a conventional war?

Even in this day & age of the War on terror only about 5% of the entire US military budget is spent on US special forces & counter insurgency training while the rest of the US military is preparing for WW3 that will never come because if it does all the nuke weapons will take care of that war.

Are US military leaders so stupid that they don't realize all of that or can the US Defense industry not afford to lose those billons of US taxpayer dollars?

1) Can anyone tell me what the officer housing, benifits and lifestyle is like in the USAF?

2) As a 2nd Lieutenant, what will I be doing as a day to day job in the intel field? I qualified to do Linguistics, Imagery and Signal intel jobs as enlisted, which is the field that I will be going in to, but decided to do the intel route as an officer, since everyone says thats the way to go. If i wont be gathering the info first hand like an enlisted, what will I be doing daily as an officer in the intel side?

ok 1st off what if it were a
WW1-german soldier
WW2-german, or japanese
Korean war-North korean soldier
Vietnam- if it was a vietcong-or a NVA soldier
Iraq both times - an Iraqi soldier
Afganistanian-Talaban, or Al-Quita/terroist

well as for me, i wouldnt shoot any of them if they surrender since thats a war crime,- and morally wrong.
i would probably beat the hell out of an talaban or Al-Quita terroist, but i dont think i would kill em if he surrendered.

but what would you do?

They were of all ages and ranks, and were loathed by the occupied peoples. Since the Reich was defeated, it is unlikely they just hitchhiked home. I would think that there would have been massive reprisals against most of them all through out Europe, but have never read anything about it.

What happened to them?

Guatemalan army officers I spoke to, told me it was a continuation of cultural conflict, between the Kekchi, who controled the army and Kekchi traditional enemies, the Ixil, Mam, and Eastern Quiche.

I have been in Guatemala quite a bit over the last twenty years. It seems there would need to be more Government than exist, to have a civil war.

Here's an excerpt from an article concerning the widow of Sgt Patrick Stewart.

quote from article ----------------------------------------
CARSON CITY -- When President Bush took time Tuesday to meet family members of some of the fallen soldiers from Northern Nevada, a woman whose husband made the ultimate sacrifice was notably absent.

Roberta Stewart of Fernley, who lost her husband, Sgt. Patrick Stewart, when the helicopter he was in was shot down in Afghanistan in September 2005, said she was not invited to the meeting that followed Bush's speech to the American Legion's national convention in Reno.

Other members of the Stewart family were invited to the brief, private meeting, including her husband's parents and brother, as were family members of others who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Stewart said her in-laws were contacted by the White House last week in advance of the visit by Bush to Reno. But she received no call or e-mail extending an invitation.

I scored a 72 on the administrative part of the line score. But the Administrative jobs only are 10% of the Airforce. I am not happy that the recruiters did not tell me it was so important to study for the Electronics and Mechanical. They told me to focus on Math and English. Now I know why. So they can get their bonus at the end of September for trying to enlist me. Is it a good idea to have them send me up to Tampa Fl. to see if there is a Administrative job for me. I just don't want to leave a good paying job that I don't like to pushing papers for half of what I make. I am a mailman now. Please I would like to have serious people only respond to this. Should I go to Tampa to bargain for a job?

Supposedly soldiers can enlist for just 3 or 4 years? The person who told me about this just might be pulling my leg. Claimed he was in the millitary (Desert Storm) for only 3.5 yrs then he was discharged.

It is routine policy and practice for fighter jets to intercept planes if they go off course even by 2 miles. In the year prior to 9/11 there were 67 such intercepts.

So why was 4 planes allowed to stray off course without being intercepted?

I already have a Bachelors degree. I want to do either Army Special Forces or Intelligence, (MOS 18A or 35). Enlisted recruiter says I should enlist because I will be allowed to pick my job; he says if I go OCS I will be placed where the army needs me and push papers. I do not want to push papers! Moreover I would not like to be in the position of "princess" to my subordinates, and am not entirely confident about my "leadership" capabilities off the bat (haven't been asked to lead anyone ever). I would like to be promoted to Lieutenant eventually, presumably. But I do not want a cushy job, and I don't care about money very much. Still, I am having trouble answering this question. People seem to have strong opinions both ways.

Thanks.

I know it's happened before, or at least similarly. He just recalls his entire army_because unbelieavably it is an army!!_and regroups, re-stocks in weapons, etc. and then starts again. But is the US government admitting to the real existance of this army?

Why not go completely after them, instead of wasting precious time with supposed members of Al Queda? Doesn't anyone see this in government itself? This seems to be a game to al-Sadr. And apparently the US doesn't consider him dangerous enough?!
