Israel is not a significant component in our war in Iraq, so I'm not too worried about them. And no, it wouldn't be turning out back on God. It wasn't supposed to be a religious war in the first place.

Israel will still be an ally but I wish it wasnt for holy reasons. Do you know that current religious figures in both muslim and christian worlds are encouraging this "god war". In america these superchurches are turning there churches into a preaching ground for the republicans and for the war. Responsible church leaders should encourage peace, love and all that good stuff, muslim or christain. Leave the politics for people outside the church.
Anyone ever see the thing on WACO, how do you think things like this happen, you let a figurehead that preaches god to start encourage there followers it causes massive damage. If you can strike a chord in people and use that to your advantage it can be very dangerous to society. God should never be involved in another war because almost every war to the core since the start of time has had a religious cast about it with a few exceptions!

It is quite sad that for so long now, our foreign policy has so heavily involved the support of Israel as a primary objective... I have no idea why this one place would be of such great importance to the American people... I believe this is just one of many examples that demonstrate how the priorities of our government almost always do not reflect the priorities of its citizens... There are many countries in that region that have found the creation and defense of Israel to be a source of great irritation. The United Nations should not be involved in the creation of nations nor the annexation of nations in any part of the world...nor should Britain or America... Examples of this would be Kuwait, Israel and now Afghanistan and Iraq. It's called meddling. We should stop meddling. We should understand that the existing leaders of a region can control and manage the affairs of their own region. Any perceived benefit is quickly overshadowed by the effect it has on our relationships with various countries. A good example of this would be Vietnam. It took a long time for us to realize that Vietnam could manage their own affairs. The existence of the Vietnamese communist government did not lead to a wildfire of communist governments throughout the region as was feared - which was the stated purpose of the war in the first place...

What does iraq have to do with Israel ?

You would have figured, if iraq was ever gonna be a threat to israel, it would have been a threat right before the

Iraq/Iran war, when it's military power was at it's peak.

Or right after the Iraq/Iran war, when it was full of combat tested veterans.

Why people decided, that somehow in 2003, Iraq had became a threat to Israel.

What was iraq gonna do, cross Jordanian territory to invade israel ??

That doesn't make much sense.

God should not be dictating foreign policy -- and last I checked, God has more effective ways of handling regional conflicts than relying on the US military.

As for Israel -- if someone attacks Israel, and Israel wants the US (or anyone else) to help in their defense, they can ask then.

Until then, our presence in Iraq is only hurting the US and it's not helping anyone.

The US will not abandon Iraq. Unfortunately, American troops will be there for a very long time. The only way American troops can leave Iraq is if UN troops take over the "peace keeping" mission.

Nothing, Israel can take care of itself. They have a strong Army, Air Force, and Navy. I would worry more of what happens to the Sunni or Shi'ite.
