1) Can anyone tell me what the officer housing, benifits and lifestyle is like in the USAF?

2) As a 2nd Lieutenant, what will I be doing as a day to day job in the intel field? I qualified to do Linguistics, Imagery and Signal intel jobs as enlisted, which is the field that I will be going in to, but decided to do the intel route as an officer, since everyone says thats the way to go. If i wont be gathering the info first hand like an enlisted, what will I be doing daily as an officer in the intel side?

Im a pilot (HC-130) in the Air Force. I am a commisioned officer and I work closely with the intel people and intel officers. TO be brutally honest- As an intel officer just starting out, you will do exactly what the junior enlisted intel people do. Its a great job, but as an officer you will be expected to get the information from the enlisted people and do formal briefings to pilots (like myself) and higher leadership. Good for you man! Its a great field and good luck to you. email me if u want to know more.

Housing- excellent, unlike enlisted you dont live in barracks (unless your in formal training like basic for officers or something) you can choose wherever you want to live in an apartment or house if you can afford it. Its good cause new enlisted members have to live in barracks for the first year.

As an officer in the USAF, on day 1 you will be leading people albeit not very many, probably 1 or 2 to begin with, but enlisted people take about 4 years before they formally supervise someone.

Trust me, the lifestyle is great for officers, and is much better then comparable jobs and lifestyle in the civilian world.

I came from a family of Officers in the Service.Right now my little brother is in to be a Navy Pilot and he loves it!!!! He was born to do it. I dated an Air Force officer and boy was it akward. He was such a little girl!! I've worked with plenty of them and they are like all of us...PEOPLE!! They do get pampered. They get better base housing, extra pay and free books if they attend NPS...etc

your a pimp. that's what an officer does. you have meetings time to time housing is awesome plus you get a food allowance. You might get an allowance to live off base if you have a family or once you become mature enough to handle it. Intel is as always providing charts maps etc..simple for the most part might I recommend a mac laptop with iWork 08 that has the new keynote. your enlisted will take care of organizing everything you are the last word and thus responsible for anything wrong and will report to your capt which should be the overall in charge you'll be under his wing you'll learn to manage your people to work as efficiently as possible.

you will be managing those who do all the work, you will be filing paperwork and filling out reports and making reports to your Seniors.

as for QOL.. slightly better than that of enlisted personnel. Higher BAH, better quarters. But that 20 year Chief Master Sergeant still brings home more money at the end of the day than you do.. at least at first.

why not go to a base and go see housing . there are also officer clubs you could go as guest of someone in military/sponser and mingle in person with personnel. i do not think that neither the enlisted nor officer personnel are compensetated well enough for the jobs we ask them to do.

we are at war / why would you consider possibly joining ? This is incomprehensible to me.
