Regular military personnel get their pay begining the month after they retire. Reserves however; must wait until they reach age 60 and 1/2. I think its unfair since its the reserves doing most of the fighting and dying in most wars and engagements we have on foriegn soil.

In south korea, all males must do 2 years of military service (of course those with money or political influence find a way out of it). My question is: Do you think the same should be applied to the United States? Why or why not? Also, if you think it should, should it be applied to females as well? Again, why or why not?

*By the way, my personal opinion is YES. It would teach alot of these immature "boys" and "girls" (like the paris's and the lindsay's) responsibility and discipline, not to mention we need all the help we can get. All these deployments are wearing us out!!!

*Proud_to_be..... don't answer this question, I don't want to hear it, and I don't think anyone else does either.

They are so politically correct that they can't win an engagement in case it upsets the enemy but who want them there?

Certainly not the British Public who prefer them to be anywhere but in the news.

Nor do the Americans who regard them as useless.

Definetly not the British Government who keep them undermanned, under-equipped, and underpaid.

So who actually wants them there?

I'm thinking of joining the marines, Is there anything that I need to know? Anything that I'm probably not prepared for? Any marines out there that want to shed some light on the situation would be much appreciated. Thanks

We have people starving, homeless, and without healthcare. Why are we fighting a war in a country of people that have been killing each other for years. Seems to me our troops should be here fighting the battle to control drugs, criminals, illegal immigration, and corruption of the government. I think we would all be prouder of them if they were fighting to make the Uninted States a better place

According to my last question, American cities and car accidents are each more deadly than an afternoon stroll in Baghdad.

I thought Iraqis were people too. What a dumbass I am.

Im not knocking gift buying.

But why do women, always want to buy gifts for everything?

We see the question in here all the time.

What to buy someone graduating Basic/Boot.
What to buy someone graduating AIT.
What to buy someone deploying.
What to buy someone coming back from deployment.

Is it, because, you find yourself in a situation where you have no control over whats happening, and it lets you assume some sort of control and makes you fell involved ?

I look at it from the male perspective, and I can't see buying someone a gift for those occassions, beside flowers when she came home.

Im just trying to get some insight into the female mind.

Help me out here, please.

I wonder how many people know that West Virgina formed when Virginia was split by the civil war....that several Mississippi and Alabama counties split with the confederacy, and that the majority of the 5 tribes fought on the side of the confederacy....with the Cheroke fighting their own civil war about the larger civil war.

Iam trying to collect information for my book... Iam not too up to date on weaponry. Obviously.

If we have warheads in our arsenal, that means we can deploy them by just about any means right? Attach them to a rocket, blast them from a ship or sub, or drop them in a bomb? Right? Or am I mistaken?

This morning, for about 30-45 minutes, a helicopter was circling quite low over our house/property (about an acre). A few times they looked like they were going to land in the yard. I finally got nervous enough that I called the local police to see of they knew of anything happening (like an escaped convict or whatever). They said they'd check into it and call back. A few minutes later, they called back to say it was just the National Guard doing training exercises. Now what I'm wondering is, why would they choose to circle over a residential area, and specifically one house/property, instead of flying over a vacant field or airstrip or whatever?
